With grateful and merciful hearts like Mary, we join our whole Diocese for the 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘻𝘱𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘭𝘣𝘢𝘺.

For 250 years, her maternal love, care and protection is seen through the numerous miracles and prayers that was granted by God through her intercession. We are forever thankful to God for giving us a mother that is forever with us.

The Assumption of Mary is a core doctrine of the Catholic Church teaching that at the end of her earthly life, Mary—the mother of Jesus—was taken into heaven body and soul. Unlike Jesus's Ascension, Mary was taken up or raised by God's grace.

While the belief dates back to early church traditions in the 4th and 5th centuries, Pope Pius XII formally defined it as an infallible dogma of Catholic faith in 1950 via his apostolic constitution 𝘔𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘶𝘴.

The Solemnity of the Assumption honors Mary's special role in the salvation narrative. Her Magnificat echoes with thankfulness and acclaim, declaring God's powerful actions and loyalty to His commitments. As we observe Mary's feast, we are invited to emulate her steadfast faith and generous love. Her Assumption is not just a singular privilege bestowed upon her but also a beacon of hope and change for all as we strive to partake in her glory.

𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘌𝘺𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘺 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴

Saint Clare of Assisi (1194–1253) was an Italian religious leader, one of the earliest followers of Saint Francis of Assisi, and the founder of the Order of Poor Ladies (now known as the Poor Clares).

She was born into a wealthy noble family in Assisi. Clare rejected her family's plans for a lucrative marriage after hearing Saint Francis preach. On Palm Sunday in 1212, 18-year-old Clare fled her home at night to meet Francis at the Chapel of the Porziuncola. Francis cut her hair, clothed her in a rough tunic, and received her vows of poverty.

She established a monastery at the Church of San Damiano, where she was soon joined by her sister Agnes and other women living in radical Franciscan poverty—barefoot, sleeping on the ground, and subsisting entirely on alms. Clare served as abbess of San Damiano for over 40 years and wrote the first monastic rule known to have been composed by a woman.

One of her notable miracles happened during 1240, when a mercenary troops under Emperor Frederick II attacked Assisi and scaled the walls of San Damiano. Bedridden and ill, Clare took the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance to the monastery window. Prostrating herself in prayer, a mysterious light and voice terrified the soldiers, causing them to panic and flee without harming the convent. That is why she is seen holding a monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament.

St. Clare is venerated as patron saint of television, proclaimed by Pope Pius XII in 1958 due to her miraculous vision of Christmas Mass from afar. When illness rendered Clare too weak to leave her bed for Christmas Mass in 1252, she prayed to join the service. She was granted a miraculous vision on the wall of her cell, allowing her to see and hear the entire Christmas Eve Mass taking place miles away in the Basilica of Saint Francis.

𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘺𝘳

Saint Lawrence of Rome (c. 225–258 AD) was one of the seven deacons of the ancient Church of Rome and a celebrated martyr under the Emperor Valerian. As the principal archdeacon of Rome, he was responsible for managing the Church’s material goods and distributing alms to the needy. In 258 AD, Emperor Valerian launched a fierce persecution, executing Pope Sixtus II and ordering Lawrence to surrender the Church's vast financial treasures within three days. Instead of gathering gold, Lawrence distributed all remaining funds to the poor. On the third day, he appeared before the Roman Prefect accompanied by a crowd of the destitute, the blind, the lame, and the suffering, declaring: "These are the true treasures of the Church."

In great enragement, the prefect sentenced Lawrence to a slow death on an iron gridiron suspended over hot coals. According to tradition, after enduring the flames for a long time with quiet courage, Lawrence joked with his executioners: "I'm well done on this side; turn me over!"

St. Lawrence is the patron saint of cooks, chefs, comedians and humorist, librarians, archivists, and deacons.

𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵, 𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴

Saint Dominic de Guzmán (1170–1221) was a Spanish Castilian priest and the founder of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans. He is renowned for his commitment to intellectual rigor, preaching against heresy, and promoting devotion to the Rosary. Born in Caleruega, Spain, Dominic studied theology and arts before becoming a regular canon in Osma. While traveling through southern France in 1203, he encountered the widespread Albigensian (Cathar) heresy. Rather than relying on coercion, Dominic sought to combat false teachings through rigorous theological instruction, persuasion, and exemplary poverty.

In 1216, Pope Honorius III officially approved Dominic's order, the Order of Preachers. Unlike traditional cloistered monks, Dominic sent his friars into major university towns across Europe to study, preach, and teach. He died in Bologna, Italy, in 1221 at the age of 51 and was canonized in 1234.

Some of his notable miracles, during a debate with Cathar heretics, both sides threw their written theological texts into a fire. The Cathar books burned instantly, while Dominic's manuscript leaped out of the flames unscathed three times.
Another is that Catholic tradition holds that the Virgin Mary appeared to Dominic in 1214, presenting him with the Rosary as a spiritual weapon against heresy and a prayer for faithful meditation.

St. Dominic is known as patron saint of astronomers, the Dominican Republic, falsely accused people, tailors, and scientific research.

Today, we take a moment to express gratitude, love, and prayers to our Quasi-Parish Administrator, 𝑹𝒆𝒗. 𝑭𝒓. 𝑬𝒅𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒔. We thank you for your endless dedication and perseverance as we continue to build our community and shepherd the flock that God has entrusted you - we thank you for your undying pastoral care, wisdom, and guidance as we continue to walk and fulfill the mission entrusted by Christ to us.
