The Municipal Garin Cup Cultural Competition took place this Saturday, August 8, where our talented servers proudly showcased their God-given talents.

Jerome Martyn Julaton, emerged as CHAMPION in English Declamation, representing Tigbauan National High School, and will be taking the stage at the FCDSA Meet 2026.

Meanwhile, Jheno Teruรฑez and Leo Aljun Tiano won SECOND PLACE in the Folk Dance category, representing Queen of Heaven Mission School, Inc.

On a different stage, Kenan Tambalo won THIRD PLACE in the Dayaw Duo Category, representing Oton National High School in Oton.

These altar servers have shown their talents in literature and dance, proving that they truly appreciate and use their God-given talents in meaningful and positive ways. Their achievement reminds us that our altar servers are not only dedicated in their service at the altar but are also talented, versatile, and courageous in facing the challenges they face every day.

May you all continue to inspire others and make us, the Altar Servers Ministry of St. John of Sahagun, even prouder!

๐‹๐จ๐จ๐ค:

The Altar Servers Ministry of the Parish of St. John Sahagun Tigbauan along side the other parishes under the Vicariate of St.John attended the ALTAR SERVERS CAMP-OUT 2026. The delegates of the ministry were composed of 27 altar servers, led by their ministry president Fritz Aniel Flanco and other officers.

The ministry participated in various events including Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Football and Quizbee. The basketball boys despite their best efforts and fearless drive fell short on their first game against St. Paul, forcing them to end their basketball stint this year.

Jerome Martyn Julaton, Christian Vic Luberisco and Symone Miguel Geronco led the team with grit and composure to a 2nd Runner-up finish in the Quiz-bee competition alongside their brother-in-christ from Guimbal Parish Patric Emmanuel Porras. The football team also tried their best to show their skill but fell short to St.Titus and Timothy, composed of John Roque Serognas, Priam Medina, Lawrence Tayhopon, Manuel Talaman and Duke Medina.

Alfonso Tornalejo III also participated in the Table Tennis, despite showing good skills fell short to secure a podium. The volleyball team also secured a 2nd Runner-up finish falling in the semi finals against St. Jude Thaddeus led by Jesus Earl Ledesma as the team captain of the vicariate alongside Carl Morales, Jefferson Torrato, Aron Trabasas, Jake Calumnay, Kenan Tambalo and their brothers-in- christ from Guimbal Parish (John Christian Gatungay, Val Cedric Netura, Rhembert Escamis, Gian Gargantos, Ian Carlisle Gelle, Ron Vincent Dicta, Francis Elijah Soleรฑo, Francis Yael Felicio, Joshua Tabud, Francis Yuel Camral)

The ministry would like to extend its sincerest thanks to everyone who helped them participate in this yearโ€™s ALTAR SERVERS CAMP-OUT. Especially to our parish priest Rev. Msgr. Alejandro Esperancilla and parochial vicar Rev. Fr. Kristoffer Lorenz Basbaรฑo. We also would like to thank Mr. John Tentia for giving us his time and effort for us to be able to participate in the event.

From the shadows of the cross to the light of the resurrection. Today, the world is reborn.

Today is ๐—˜๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† (๐——๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ด๐—ผ ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ธ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜„), the ultimate 'comeback' moment in history. Jesus didnโ€™t just survive; He conquered. He turned the greatest tragedy into the greatest triumph, proving that no matter how dark โ€˜Fridayโ€™ or โ€˜Saturdayโ€™ felt, โ€˜Sundayโ€™ is always coming.

Today is Sabado de Glora or Black Saturday. The day of sacred stillness.
The cross is empty, the tomb is sealed, and it feels like everything is on pause. This is the โ€˜Quiet Middleโ€™ where the hardest lessons are learned.

The lesson? In a world that is constantly loud and performative, today is a reminder that silence isn't an absence; it's a presence. Itโ€™s okay to not have all the answers. Itโ€™s okay to be in the 'in-between' phase of your goals or your faith.

As we watch and pray today, letโ€™s find peace in the stillness, knowing that the story is not over. The best is yet to come.

Today is Biyernes Santo or Good Friday. We are staring at the most intense proof of love in history.

Jesus did not just say He loved us He showed it by facing the cross. While the world is chasing vibes today is a reminder that real love is often messy, sacrificial and incredibly brave. Jesus did not exit the mission when it got painful Jesus stayed until it was finished.

The lesson from Good Friday is that in an era where we often put ourselves first Good Friday asks us: What are we willing to sacrifice for the truth? True greatness is not found in a crown. In the heart that is willing to lay everything down for others.

As we join the procession or reflect in the silence of our homes let us sit with the weight of Good Friday. Good Friday is a day for repentance and deep gratitude.

Today is Maundy Thursday, or Huwebes Santo, the day before Jesus sacrificed himself for his love for mankind. At the Last Supper, Jesus gathered his inner circle for a final meal, but the real plot twist happened when he got up from the table, knelt, and washed the feet of his disciples. Now, why did he do this?

๐—›๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐˜‚๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—”๐—Ÿ ๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ช๐—˜๐—ฅ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ, ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ ๐—ง๐—ข ๐—•๐—˜ ๐—ฆ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฉ๐—˜๐——.

He loved them โ€˜to the end.' He washed the feet of the ones who would run away and even the ones who would sell Him out.

Now here is another question: ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—น๐—น ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜?

If the King of Kings can wash the feet of his disciples, we have no excuse to let our egos stand in the way of helping others. Letโ€™s drop the pride and pick up the towel. He gave us the Mandatum: โ€˜Love one another as I have loved you.โ€™ He broke the bread, he poured the w**e, and he washed the feet.

May we carry the same spirit of humility as we enter the Paschal Triduum.
