🌄 MORNING PRAYER
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Philippians 2:5-6

INSPIRATION
Christ was already equal with God, possessing all of the same Divine attributes possessed by God the Father. It would be no "robbery, " therefore, if He came into the world and demanded all men immediately serve Him and worship Him as God. But in fact He came more "quietly" into this world. He made Himself of no reputation and became as it were a servant (verse 7). He left us an example of humility that we ought to emulate.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you didn't come into the world to be served but to serve and to give your life a ransom for many. Help us to learn true humility from your example left to us in Scripture. You always submitted to the Father, even to the point of enduring the pain and agony of the cross. Help us to endure all things with joy that God has made our lot to bear, knowing that it will turn to our benefit in the end. Amen.

🌙 NIGHT PRAYER
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Jeremiah 33:3

INSPIRATION
When we call on the LORD, He answers! Beyond that, He will show us great things that aren't even on our radar. God is so good. Seek Him. You will never regret seeking the LORD. He is good, faithful, and true. Get excited for whatever it is God will show you when you call on His name.

PRAYER
LORD, I know You exist. I know You are God. I want to know You better. I want to know You more than anyone else in my life. When I have something exciting to share, I want my instinct to be to share it with You first. You are too good to me. You are full of mysteries, and I am excited to learn more of them from You. In Jesus' holy name. Amen.

🌄 MORNING PRAYER
And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
1 Samuel 3:19

INSPIRATION
God appointed Samuel as His prophet during the period of selecting two kings: first Saul and then David. This verse follows the moment when the Lord called Samuel. From then on, Samuel continued to grow, the Lord was with him, and all of his prophecies came true. God did great things through Samuel, and it began when God spoke to Samuel and he listened calling himself the Lord's servant. Are you willing to do whatever it is God has for you? God works mightily through His servants.

PRAYER
Lord, You did mighty things through Samuel. I praise You for Your mighty works. You do great things through Your people. You make small acts into mighty deeds. I will be Your servant. Whatever small things or large things you have for me, I will do. I bow before You, ready and willing to do Your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.

🌄 MORNING PRAYER
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
Ecclesiastes 12:1

INSPIRATION
When you are young, it is wise to remember God and live for Him. Do not wait until you are old to come to God. He can bring You more joy than any earthly thing. His rewards are greater than any prize on earth. Come to God and serve Him now. He deserves your praise when you are young and when you are old.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I will live for You now when I am young. I won't wait until I am older. I want to serve You now and later. I want my every day to be spent serving You and being in Your will. I want to experience Your presence. I want to pray on my knees before and after I need a cushion to do so. You are great and I praise You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

🌄 MORNING PRAYER
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:3

INSPIRATION
The ritual of baptism symbolizes the dying to sin and the rising again in newness of life to serve our God. But as we are "in Christ, " who died to put away our sins once and for all and then rose in glorious and eternal victdory, we can be said to "die and rise with Him. "

PRAYER
Help us, O Lord, to regard ourselves as dead to sin and to actively crucify our sinful lusts each and every day. It is not fitting that we who have died to sin should walk any longer therein. Change our attitudes and our values. Help us reorder our priorities so that we always put holiness ahead of convenience and your glory ahead of our own pleasure. Amen.

NIGHT PRAYER
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1 Corinthians 15:55

INSPIRATION
Let's face it. Death "stings." It seems a paltry term for something that can devastate our lives the way death does. But the pain is still "stinging." No one is safe from it. But in this passage, Paul triumphantly declares victory over death in this passage. He says "Oh, Death. Where is your victory?" He declares the sting of death to be gone. He gives hope in these words. He looks past the temporary moment here on this earth when death stings us, and focuses on the ultimate plan for death: defeat. Christ will be victorious over death and the children of God will never have to fear its sting again.

PRAYER
Lord, You are the Victor! You have taken away the pain of Death. You have eliminated its sting. Death is defeated because of You. Praise Your holy name! Amen.

NIGHT PRAYER
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
MARK 12:30-31

INSPIRATION
In this passage, Jesus encapsulates the Ten Commandments into two commandments. He exhorts us to "love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds". The first four commandments all concern how we are related to God: put God first, don't worship idols, don't use the Lord's name in vain, and keep God's day holy. The last six commandments instruct us as to how we are to treat others. We should honor our parents and refrain from murdering other people, committing adultery, lying about others, coveting their belongings, and stealing. Jesus concisely summarizes these commandments with a new revision: Love your neighbor as yourself. In these two commands, Jesus says, lies the fullness of the law. Everything we need to know about how to treat God and others we find in these verses.

PRAYER
Lord, Help me to keep Your commandments. Help to love You with everything I am and help me to love my neighbor. When I fail, remind me of Your commandments. Help me to keep them in a manner that is pleasing to You. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
ISAIAH 43:1

INSPIRATION
We belong to God. We are His children. Whenever the enemy tries to tell you otherwise, stand firm on God's word and remind the enemy of whom you belong to – God, the Father.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank you that I have my identity in you – as your child. Lord, I pray that when anyone tries to make me doubt who I am, I will simply shake them off and tell them, confidently, that I belong to you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
ROMANS 6:11

INSPIRATION
Through Jesus Christ alone are we made "alive unto God. " If we are dead to sin, then it wil lose its power over us. If we are alive to God, we will respond in love and obedience to his Word and his Spirit

PRAYER
Help us to live this day as dead indeed to sin and alive indeed to you, O Lord. You are the source of our life and the focus of our life. All of the spiritual exercises that you animate in us are directed back to you as the object of our affection and praise. With renewed minds and wills, let us serve you out of pure heart faithfully. AMEN

NIGHT PRAYER
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
PROVERBS 10:8

INSPIRATION
In our lives we have foolish times and we have wise times. In the foolish times, we just spend a lot of our time telling other people what to do and giving advice that hasn't been solicited. We talk about things that don't really matter. We just spout the things that we want to say. When we're foolish we don't listen to anybody; we don't heed warnings; we don't take advice from anybody who's older and wiser we. Some life changing mistakes can be made in these foolish times. Thankfully there are times we are also wise. In those times we are quick to listen and slow to speak. We heed warnings that are given to us and we listen to advice from trusted mentors. In those times we make our wisest decisions, our best choices. This proverb reminds us that it is a good thing if we are sensible and we learn how to follow directions. But if we're foolish then we are just full of conceit and we only think about ourselves. We're prideful and we are self-important and that's a bad thing. The implication is that if I'm wise then I will succeed; if I'm foolish that I will fail. Let us strive to be wise and not to be some foolish person who only who thinks of himself.

PRAYER
Father, I thank You that You're able to help me distinguish between wisdom and foolishness. I know that I have been foolish in my life and I've learned some hard lessons from those times. I ask that You give me a wise heart and that You will help me to heed the advice of people that I trust. I ask that You'll help me to hear Your voice and Your admonition and that I'm wise enough to listen to You and do Your will. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
ROMANS 6:23

INSPIRATION
We cannot appreciate the magnitude of God's gift of eternal life until we first understand that the wages of sin is death. Wages are what we "earned, " what we "deserve. " "Death" is not only physical death, here, but spiritual and eternal death. Our sin was an offense to the infinitely holy God, and thus justly deserved eternal punishment. But God's grace, which was greater than all our sin, brings us eternal life instead.

PRAYER
Lord, help us to see that your punishment for sin is just and to sense something of the true heinousness of sin. Help us to appreciate more fully how much we were forgiven, and having been forgiven much, to love much.
