WAS ME?
๐ Matthew 27:11โ26
In Matthew 27, we see three characters around Jesus.
THE CROWD
They followed the voices around them and cried, โCrucify Him!โ
THE LEADERS
They had authority and influence. They knew Jesus had done nothing deserving death, yet they chose to satisfy the crowd and protect their position.
BARABBAS
He was guilty and deserved punishment. Yet when the crowd chose Jesus to be crucified, Barabbas was released.
And this is where the story becomes personal.
THAT WAS ME.
Like Barabbas, I was guilty because of sin. I deserved the judgment my sin brought. But Jesus, the innocent One, took my place.
Barabbas walked free because Jesus was condemned in his place.
Jesus suffered for sins He did not commit so that sinners like us could receive the freedom we did not deserve.
During our Communion Service and Sunday Celebration, we remembered what Jesus did for us.
The bread reminded us of His body given for us.
The cup reminded us of His blood shed for the forgiveness of sins.
We came not because we were worthy, but because Jesus took our place.
He was innocent.
I was guilty.
He suffered.
I was set free.
So, WAS ME?
Yes.
I was the one who needed grace.
I was the one who needed saving.
I was the one who deserved judgment.
But Jesus took my place.
He was more than an innocent man condemned by the crowd.
He was the One who willingly took my place.
May we never forget the price He paid and the grace He freely gave.
That was me.
Jesus took my place.
And because of Him, I am free. โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
