Every day, the world tells us to put ourselves first...
“Do whatever makes you happy”
“Follow your heart”
“You deserve whatever you want” and
“Don’t let anyone tell you what to do.”

While taking care of yourself is important, following Jesus teaches us something deeper: sometimes, loving God means surrendering what we want and choosing what is right. Because Christianity isn't just about getting what we want; it's about becoming who God called us to be.

Luke 9:23 says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Imagine a young person who is in a relationship that feels good but is slowly pulling them away from God. They know something isn't right, but the world tells them, “If you're happy, that's all that matters.” Choosing Jesus may mean setting boundaries or walking away, even when it hurts. That's not a weakness, it is choosing obedience over temporary comfort.

Sometimes, choosing Jesus means saying “No” to what everyone else is saying “Yes” to It can mean refusing to cheat even when everyone else is doing it, walking away from gossip instead of joining in, forgiving someone instead of getting revenge, or choosing purity when you're being pressured to compromise. Hindi ibig sabihin na mas better ka kaysa sa ibang tao. It simply means you're allowing Christ to guide your choices instead of letting the culture around you decide who you should become.

And honestly, choosing Jesus won't always be easy. There will be moments when following Him costs you friendships, opportunities, comfort, or popularity. You might even be called “too religious” or “too different.” But remember, Jesus never promised that following Him would always be convenient. He promised that He would be with us. Sometimes, the hardest “no” you say to the world becomes the strongest “yes” you say to God.

So when the world says, “Choose yourself,” remember that Jesus is not asking you to hate yourself, He's asking you to surrender yourself to Him. Your desires, plans, relationships, future, and decisions can all be placed in His hands. Choose Jesus when it's popular, and choose Him when you're standing alone. Choose Him when it's easy, and choose Him when it costs you something. Because what the world offers may satisfy you for a moment, but a life surrendered to Christ has a purpose that lasts forever.

You Were Made to Shine

Minsan, feeling natin kailangan nating mag-fit in para matanggap tayo ng ibang tao. We hide our faith, stay quiet about what we believe, or change ourselves just to belong. Pero sinabi ni Jesus sa Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” As Christians, hindi tayo tinawag na itago ang light na binigay ni Lord sa atin, we're called to let it shine.

Imagine a student na nasa classroom with friends who are constantly making fun of someone. Instead of joining the teasing, she chooses to defend that person or simply refuses to participate. Maybe her friends will say, “Ang sensitive mo naman,” or make fun of her for being different. But she chooses kindness because she knows that following Jesus should affect the way she treats people. That's what being a light can look like. Hindi kailangan laging malaking bagay; sometimes, it's simply choosing Christ-like behavior when no one else does.

Being a light doesn't mean you're perfect. You can still have bad days, make mistakes, and struggle with your faith. The difference is that you don't hide your need for Jesus. You allow Him to change you, and that transformation becomes visible through the way you live. Kapag may nakakita sa'yo na marunong kang magpatawad, maging honest, tumulong, or show kindness kahit walang kapalit, they may begin to wonder, “What makes this person different?”

There may also be moments when you're tempted to dim your light because you're afraid of being judged. Maybe you're the only one in your friend group who wants to stay faithful, or you're scared that people will call you “too religious.” But remember, a light is most noticeable in a dark place. Hindi mo kailangang maging loud or force everyone to believe what you believe. Sometimes, your life itself can become a testimony of God's goodness.

So don't be afraid to shine. Be the Christian who brings hope when people are discouraged, kindness when people are harsh, forgiveness when people expect revenge, and faith when everyone else is afraid. You don't shine because you're perfect, you shine because Jesus is in you. Let your words, choices, attitude, and actions point people back to Him. You are the light of the world. Don't hide what God placed inside you.

You May Not See It Yet

Minsan, mahirap maging faithful kapag wala kang nakikitang result. You keep praying, serving, waiting, and doing your best, pero parang tahimik ang lahat. Napapaisip ka tuloy, “Lord, may ginagawa Ka pa ba?” But just because you can't see what God is doing doesn't mean He's doing nothing. There are things God is working on behind the scenes that you are not meant to see yet.

Sabi sa Romans 8:28, “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Imagine someone who's been praying for a job. Ilang applications na ang sinend niya, pero puro rejection ang natatanggap niya. She starts thinking na baka hindi para sa kanya ang dream niya. Pero after some time, may dumating na opportunity na mas aligned sa skills niya at mas magandang fit sa life niya. Yung mga “no” na akala niya rejection lang pala, naging redirection ni Lord.

Maybe you're also in a season of waiting. You're praying for your family, waiting for an answered prayer, hoping for a breakthrough, or asking God for direction sa future mo. Pero habang naghihintay ka, don't stop being faithful. Keep praying. Keep serving. Keep studying. Keep doing good. Kahit walang immediate result, every prayer, every effort, and every act of obedience matters to God.

Sometimes, habang hinihintay mong baguhin ni Lord ang situation mo, He is changing you first. Habang hinihintay mo ang new opportunity, He may be preparing you for it. Habang hinihintay mong buksan Niya ang isang door, baka tinuturuan ka muna Niyang magtiwala behind the closed one. The waiting season may feel silent, but remember: silence doesn't mean absence. God can be working even when you can't see the evidence yet.

So stay faithful. Keep praying kahit matagal. Keep doing good kahit walang nakakakita. Keep trusting kahit hindi mo pa naiintindihan. One day, you'll look back and realize that God was working all along... closing doors that needed to close, opening doors at the right time, preparing your heart, and directing your steps. You don't have to understand everything God is doing; you just have to trust the One who is doing it.

His Presence, My Peace

Minsan iniisip natin na magiging peaceful lang tayo kapag okay na lahat... kapag wala nang problema, kapag answered na lahat ng prayers, kapag stable na ang life, at kapag everything goes according to plan. Pero ang tunay na peace hindi nakadepende sa kung gaano ka-perfect ang circumstances natin. It comes from knowing that God is with us, even when life isn’t.

Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us not to be consumed by anxiety, but to bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving. And when we do, “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Hindi sinabi na mawawala agad lahat ng problema, pero God promises a peace that can guard us even in the middle of them.

Kaya kapag magulo ang situation, don’t wait for everything to become perfect before you seek God. Run to His presence now. Pray even when you don't know what to say. Worship even when you don't feel like it. Trust even when you can't see the outcome. Sometimes, the miracle isn’t that God immediately changes the situation, the miracle is that He gives you peace while you’re still in it.

Remember, Jesus Himself said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” The peace Jesus gives is different from the temporary peace the world offers. Hindi ito peace na nawawala kapag may bad news. It is a peace rooted in the assurance that you are never facing anything alone because God is with you.

So today, stop searching for peace in things that can change. Search for it in the One who never changes. Your circumstances may be uncertain, but God’s presence is constant. And sometimes, you don’t need a perfect situation, you simply need to remember that the Prince of Peace is right there with you.

His Will Over My Comfort

Sometimes, obeying God means choosing the harder path. It may mean letting go of something you really want, stepping away from what feels comfortable, or saying “yes” to God even when you don’t fully understand where He’s leading you. Hindi laging comfortable ang obedience, pero hindi ibig sabihin na mali ang direction.

Hebrews 11:8 says that Abraham obeyed God and went even though “he did not know where he was going.” That’s what faith looks like sometimes. You may not have the full picture, you may not know what’s waiting ahead, but you choose to trust the One who does. Hindi mo kailangang makita ang buong road para sumunod sa Diyos.

Maybe God is asking you to wait when you want to rush, to forgive when you feel hurt, to surrender when you want to hold on, or to leave something behind because He has something better ahead. Obedience can feel like a loss in the moment, but sometimes what feels like God taking something away is actually God making room for something greater.

Remember, God sees what you cannot see. What He asks you to surrender today may be protecting you from something tomorrow. What feels like a “no” may actually be His way of redirecting you toward His purpose. Trust His wisdom more than your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and acknowledge Him in all our ways, because He will make our paths straight.

So if obedience feels costly today, keep saying yes to God. Kahit mahirap. Kahit hindi mo pa naiintindihan. Kahit kailangan mong step out of your comfort zone. Because when you choose God over comfort, you’re trusting that His plans are better than anything you could create for yourself. The temporary discomfort of obedience is never greater than the eternal value of following God’s will.

Let Revival Begin in Me

Minsan, we pray for revival in our church, our youth, our community, and even in our generation. We ask God to change people, awaken hearts, and bring more souls back to Him. But sometimes, before we ask God to change everyone around us, we need to be willing to say, “Lord, start with me.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways…” Notice that revival begins with God’s people humbling themselves, seeking Him, and turning back to Him. Hindi muna “Lord, change them.” It starts with “Lord, change me.”

Maybe revival starts when we stop pointing at what is wrong with everyone else and start allowing God to search our own hearts. When we surrender our pride, our secret sins, our distractions, and the things that have slowly taken God’s place in our lives. Real revival begins when we become willing to be corrected, cleansed, and transformed by God.

Psalm 139:23–24 says, “Search me, God, and know my heart… See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Imagine praying that honestly... not asking God to fix everyone else first, but giving Him permission to work deeply in you. Because revival is not simply about a powerful worship service or a crowded church; it is about hearts that are genuinely surrendered to Jesus.

So today, let this be our prayer: “Lord, start with me.” Start in my heart. Start in my home. Start in my character. Start in my prayer life. Start in the areas I’ve been afraid to surrender. If revival needs a willing heart, let mine be that heart. And if God changes one heart completely surrendered to Him, that transformed life can become a spark that points others back to Jesus.

Known by God, Not the Crowd

Sa panahon ngayon, madaling ma-pressure na maging accepted, liked, and noticed by everyone. Minsan, we change ourselves just to fit in, follow the crowd, or avoid being judged. Pero following Jesus means choosing Him even when His way is different from the world’s way. Hindi laging popular ang pagsunod kay Christ, pero it will always have a greater purpose.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:24, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Following Jesus requires surrender. May mga bagay kang kailangang bitawan, habits na kailangang baguhin, at choices na hindi maiintindihan ng ibang tao. But every time you choose obedience over approval, you are choosing something eternal over something temporary.

Maybe there will be moments when you feel left out because you refuse to compromise your faith. Baka may mga taong hindi maintindihan kung bakit you choose to wait, forgive, stay pure, serve, or put God first. Pero remember, you were never called to live for people’s applause. Galatians 1:10 reminds us that if our goal is to please people, we cannot fully live as servants of Christ.

The world may measure a meaningful life by followers, achievements, money, popularity, or recognition. But Jesus gives us a different definition. A meaningful life is a life surrendered to God and used for His purpose. You may not be the most noticed person in the room, but if your life points people toward Jesus, your life is making an eternal impact.

So don't be afraid to stand for Christ even when standing alone feels difficult. You don't need everyone to approve of your walk with God. Choose Jesus when it costs you popularity. Choose truth when compromise is easier. Choose obedience when the crowd chooses another direction. Because at the end of the day, being known by God is far more valuable than being known by the world. Popularity fades, but a life lived for Jesus has eternal meaning.
