You made Venerable Alfredo Maria Obviar a faithful priest, a true shephered to the flock, and a model to his brother priests. We thank You for having raised this servant as an example of humble obedience to the Church, a silent and committed witness to the Paschal Mystery of Jesus.

We also praise You, Father, that fired with filial love for Mary, Queen of Carmel and imbued with the simplicity of St Therese You inspired Venerable Alfredo Maria to found the Institute of the Missionary Catechists of St. Therese in order to carry out the task of evangelization, an urgent task for the Church today.

The formation of altar servers is a sacred and personal journey one that begins not with skill, but with a willing heart. To enter formation is to answer a quiet call from God, a call to draw nearer to Him through service. It is a path that asks for commitment, humility, and trust, knowing that growth comes not instantly, but through time, prayer, and perseverance.

In formation, we are taught the meaning behind every action at the altar. Each step, gesture, and moment of silence carries purpose. We learn that serving during the Holy Mass is not a performance, but an act of reverence offered to God. Corrections and reminders are not meant to discourage, but to guide us toward greater respect for the sacred space we serve in and the Lord we serve.

This journey is personal because it slowly shapes the heart. Formation teaches patience when we are corrected, discipline when we are tired, and faithfulness when service becomes challenging. It invites us to set aside pride and to serve quietly, understanding that our role is not to be noticed, but to help others encounter God in prayer.

The formation of an altar server extends beyond the sanctuary. What is learned at the altar influences how we live each day with greater responsibility, respect for others, and a deeper sense of prayer. Serving forms not only our actions, but our character, teaching us to lead with example and to serve with sincerity.

For those discerning the call to become altar servers, formation is an invitation to grow in faith and devotion. You do not enter formation because you are already prepared you enter so that you may be formed. With an open heart and a spirit of service, God will patiently guide you, shaping you into a servant who serves not only at the altar, but in life itself.
