HISTORY

The first chapel of Maliwalo was built approximately one hundred meters west of the present location sometime before the 1920’s. The first chapel found at the current location was built in 1928 under the Patronage of the Our Lady of Lourdes wherein the main structure was built of bamboo with thatched roof. It was the family of the late Don Eusebio Cabrera who donated the piece of land fo

r this chapel. The family also donated an image of the Our Lady of Lourdes. Conrado Quiambao, a native of Victoria, Tarlac, would later celebrate the first mass. But the coming of the Second World War in the next sixteen years would prevent the people from celebrating a feast most fitting to the Lady. Finally, on February 11, 1948, when war was over, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes was celebrated with much festivity. In 1950’s, they had the construction of a new chapel which was then under the jurisdiction of the Our Lady of Ransom Parish of Matatalaib. The chapel was later reconstructed several times to accommodate the growing population and the desired improvements. A significant event took place in 2004, when Barangay Maliwalo became the seat of the new parish much to the jubiliation of its constituents. The parish consists of Brgys. Bora, Calingcuan and San Jose. Elmer B. Gonzales was installed as its first parish priest. From then on, the development of the parish continued with Rev. Jay Policarpio as the parish priest. At present, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Maliwalo is being administered by Rev. Manolito G. Santos as the parish priest and Rev. Gerald A. Cortes as its Parochial Vicar.

With grateful hearts and joyful spirits, we warmly greet everyone a Happy 22nd Canonical Er****on Anniversary to our beloved Our Lady of Lourdes Parish! As we celebrate this meaningful milestone in our parish community, we honor and give thanks to our Blessed Mother, Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes, for her loving intercession, guidance, and protection throughout the years.
