A Biblical Giver
Ptr June Mangaya
Text: 2 Corinthians 8:1-5

Casual Giver vs. Committed Giver
* Casual giver – Gives only when they feel like it.
* Committed giver – Gives regularly, no matter the circumstances.
Macedonian Church vs. Corinthian Church
Poor people are often generous, while some rich people do not give as much.
I. The Poverty They Resisted
(2 Cor. 8:1–2)
* Generosity is not a natural human trait.
* Our human nature is to be selfish.
* When you are generous, it is a display of God's love.
Two examples of the grace of God:
* The grace of God bestowed upon the churches in Macedonia.
* The grace of God demonstrated when Jesus died on the cross. We did not deserve His love, yet He gave His Son for us.
II. The Paradox They Revealed
(v. 2)
"Giving is a fundamental response to God's grace."
* The time you give is not necessarily the time you receive blessings.
* Give even when you have little, because if you learn to give in times of lack, it will be easier to give when you have abundance.
* A newspaper vendor can be richer than Bill Gates—not necessarily in wealth, but in generosity and contentment.
* It is not truly giving if it is done only when it is convenient.
III. The Privilege They Requested
(v. 4)
IV. The Priority They Responded To
(v. 5)
* Giving is not primarily a financial issue; it is an issue of the heart and the mind.
