"THE HONORABLE MARRIAGE" Part 2
(Hebrews 13:4)
If marriage is not honored, it is defiled before God.
What is the Biblical view and understanding of Marriage and S*x?
- the Bible says, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled" (v.4)
Today, many view marriage as unnecessary.
But, in the Bible there are people who are destined to be "celibate" means "the state of voluntarily abstaining from marriage and s*xual activity."
(the reasons for celibacy, primarily centered on devotion to God and practical circumstances).
Celibacy in the Bible is described as a "gift" from God, not something everyone can or should accept, allowing individuals to focus on "the affairs of the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7;7-8),
for it is the Lord who gave control and strength to His servant to be celibate.
- Both marriage and celibacy are honorable and pleasing to God.
[] Divorce is biblical because it has ground
(Matthew 19:9)
- adultery and s*xual immorality.
- (1 Corinthians 7:15), in terms of "Divorce", the church are involved.
What is the Biblical view of S*xual Intimacy?
Modern culture normalizes s*x before marriage, but Scripture calls it "s*xual immorality."
There is s*xual intimacy that is pure and sacred that designed by God.
("po**os" means when a person considered s*xual intimacy/desire that opposed how God designed s*xual desire).
This is sin (s*xual immorality).
- Sin has distorted human desires, making them defiled.
S*xual desires must be governed by self-control and aligned with God’s design.
[] Forms of s*xual immorality
- Fornication (s*x before marriage)
- Adultery
- Po*******hy (visual sin, even without physical contact)
These sins bring long-term consequences.
[] Why s*xual immorality is sin?
- It offends God, who is holy and righteous.
- Sins against one’s own body.
- it is idolatry — seeking pleasure apart from God’s way.
- Is deceptive and destructive.
As a Christians, what must be our response?
Take this seriously; temptation begins in the mind. (defiled imaginations)
- Cut off sin at its root before it overcomes you.
- Grow in knowledge of Christ — this will leads us to live in holiness, righteousness, and obedience to God’s Word which will cause us to grow deeper in hatred of sin.
Let us continue to pray that God deepen our longing to know Christ more and more.
