The Rosary is a Catholic prayer practice using a string of beads to count prayers and meditate on the mysteries of Christ's life and Mary's life, rooted in early Christian prayer traditions. The word "rosary" means "garland of roses". The standard Rosary consists of a crucifix, a few beads at the start, and five sets of ten "decades" of beads for the Hail Mary, separated by a larger bead for the Our Father. The mysteries are divided into Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious events from Christ's life, providing a focus for prayer and contemplation.
