WE LOVE JESUS IN THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF TODAY

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Sto. Niño, the yearly observance that is so dear to the hearts of all Filipino Catholics. This Feast not only brings us back to the beginning of the Christianization of our land but also enables us to see the relevance of this devotion to our lives today. In a special manner, it forces us to focus on our children and youth, with all the problems they may pose and the hopes they raise.

January 04 | SOLEMNITY OF THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

The word “epiphany” comes from the Greek epiphainen, a verb that means "to shine upon," "to manifest," or “to make known.” Thus, the feast of the Epiphany celebrates the many ways that Christ has made Himself known to the world, mainly the three events that manifested the mission and divinity of Christ: the visit of the Magi (Matthew 2:1-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11), and the miracle at Cana (John 2:1-11). The visit of the Magi is emphasized on Epiphany Day, and Christ's baptism is celebrated the first Sunday that follows.

PRAYER: O God, who on this day revealed your Only Begotten Son to the nations by the guidance of a star, grant in your mercy that we, who know you already by faith, may be brought to behold the beauty of your sublime glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

January 1, 2026 | Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

The oldest feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates the mystery of her being the Mother of Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Mary has been called "Theotokos", or "God-Bearer" (Mother of God). It is the principal feast of Mary, because her divine motherhood is the reason why she received the special privileges of Immaculate Conception and Assumption into heaven. Mary is the Mother of Christ and the Mother of the Church.

PRAYER: O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed on the human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom we were found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Today is the feast day of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph, but also every family's feast day, since the Holy Family is the patron and model of all Christian families. Happy Feast Day!
