"URGE THE YOUNGER WOMEN"

📖 In my last post, we looked at Titus 2:3. We saw how “teaching what is good” is applied in real life. It means living a reverent life. A life that reflects Christ. A life that disciples the next generation.

🌿 Now, Titus 2:4 takes us further: “Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children.”

💡 At first, this may sound simple. But it carries deep meaning.

❤️ Loving our husbands and children is more than a feeling. It is a daily choice. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 that love goes beyond emotions. True love shows itself in patience, kindness, forgiveness, and service. Even on the hard days.

✝️ Love is choosing to give, even when it isn’t easy. This kind of love reflects Christ’s sacrifice for us.

👩‍👩‍👧 Paul’s words also show us something else. Love like this doesn’t always come naturally. It must be taught. It must be encouraged. And it must be modeled. That is why discipleship and mentorship are so important.

❓ So, why is it important to urge the next generation to love their husbands and children?

🏠 Because faithful love transforms homes. Our homes become testimonies of God’s grace. They become places where Christ’s character is seen in daily relationships.

📜 Scripture gives us examples:

Joshua: Leading His Home in Faith (Joshua 24:15)

Abraham: Teaching His Family to Follow God (Genesis 18:19)

Priscilla and Aquila: Opening Their Home for Ministry (Romans 16:3–5)

Cornelius: Leading His Family Toward Salvation (Acts 10:2)

👵 And when older women guide younger women in this, they are shaping families and future generations to reflect God’s design for love, faithfulness, and service, just like Lois and Eunice passing down sincere faith to Timothy. (2Timothy 1:5)

🌸 May our lives encourage the younger generation. May they learn to love their husbands and children in the Lord.

🍀What Does It Mean to Teach What Is Good?
(And Why It Starts With Us, Mama)

In my last post, I shared how so much of our parenting style tends to come from what we saw growing up—what our own parents or elders did. It’s what we know, right? But as we raise our little ones, especially if we want to raise them to know and love Jesus, we have to pause and ask: Is what we’re passing on truly good? Or just familiar?

🌹Titus 2:3 has been pressing on my heart lately. Paul encourages older women to “live a reverent life.” And if you’re anything like me, you might read that and think, Okay, but what does that actually look like in everyday life with diapers on the floor and snacks in every corner of the house?

Paul doesn’t leave us guessing. He goes on to say that reverent women are “not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.” Now sure, we can say, “I’m not gossiping” or “I’m not overindulging.” That’s a start. But the part that really gets me is: teach what is good.

Teach who? Teach how?

🌺If you’re a mom, you’re already a teacher—whether you realize it or not. Little eyes are watching how we speak, how we treat others, how we spend our time. They’re soaking it all in. Discipleship isn’t just about the Bible stories at bedtime (though those are gold too!); it’s in how we respond when we’re frustrated, how we pray when we’re worried, how we serve without complaining. That’s the kind of “good” Paul’s talking about.

So maybe living a reverent life isn’t about having it all together—it’s about being intentional. It’s about living in a way that points our kids (and other women around us) to Jesus, not just with our words but with our choices.

🌸Let’s be the kind of mamas who teach what is good—not just by what we say, but by how we live. Because the next generation? They’re learning how to live from us.

🌿 Break the Cycle: Discipleship Starts with Us 🌿
Most of us didn’t take a parenting class before becoming moms—we learned it in real time, often by repeating what we saw growing up.
If you were raised in a home where yelling was normal, where love was conditional, or where peace was rare, those patterns likely followed you into motherhood, even if you swore they wouldn’t.

This is why Titus 2 is such a gift:

📖 “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live… so that they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children…” (Titus 2:3-4)

Paul wasn’t just offering advice—he was laying out a discipleship model. One generation shaping the next. Why? Because without intentional discipleship, dysfunction tends to repeat itself.

🛑 But here’s the good news:
In Christ, the cycle can stop with you.
You can be the first generation in your family:
To parent with patience.
To discipline with love.
To speak life instead of curses.
To break generational strongholds through surrender to Jesus.
It’s not easy. But God has not left you alone. He’s given you His Word, His Spirit, and His people. And as you walk in reverence—living, learning, and leaning on Him—you become the “older woman” Paul described, even if you’re still in the middle of diapers and nap schedules.

Your children won’t just inherit your habits.
They’ll inherit your faith.
