Did you know that Misa De Gallo is technically the midgnight mass on Christmas Eve?

This is according to the dictionary of the Real Academia Española. Misa de Gallo (meaning "Rooster's Mass") was called as such in several countries, with rooster as the heralder of the good news. Somehow in the Philippines, Misa de Gallo came popularly applied to all simbang gabi at Christmastime. So the next time that your grandparents correct you whenever you tell that Misa de Gallo and Simbang Gabi are the same, do not be surprised. ^_^

IF MISA DE GALLO IS TECHNICALLY THE CHRISTMAS EVE MASS, WHAT IS MISA DE AGUINALDO THEN?

Misa de Aguinaldo (meaning "Gift Mass") is among the most distinctive traditions of Christmas in the Philippines. Churchgoers offer the gift of sacrifice of waking up before the break of dawn for nine consecutive days to attend the dawn masses in thanksgiving, as a form of worship, or for a standing petition. Misas de Aguinaldo (plural of "misa" is "misas) are technically the novena masses we attend. These were introduced for the farmers who wake up very early to work, and; to impress Filipino Christian converts on the significance of Christmas Day.

Misa de Aguinaldo is a privileged votive mass, meaning a mass that does not correspond to the liturgical calendar but has a special intention. It is conducted for a ‘grave or weighty reason’ (pro re gravi) and with massive attendance of the faithful. Instead of the violet that is proper of Advent, the color of the vestments of the priests during the Misa de Aguinaldo is white. Gloria is also sung during this type of celebration.

Setyembre 10, 2022, Ang St. Joseph Chapel sang Baranggay Matab-ang nagpartisipar sa first ever PATRONAL PROCESSION sang nagkalain lain nga Patron sang BEC AREAS. Ini nga procession ginhiwat pagkatapos sang alas 4 sang hapon nga misa.

In behalf sang community sang St. Joseph Chapel, Barangay Matab-ang, we would like to thank Rev. Fr. Anthony "Nonie" Morillo, OAR, San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Priest for supporting and making the event success. We would also like to thank the people in the community of St. Joseph Chapel for being part of this successful, fruitful and memorable activity.
