St. Veronica the Bleeder

🔸 July 12 - Saint Veronica the Bleeder🔸

Today, we also commemorate Saint Veronica the Bleeder. She is identified as the unnamed woman in the Gospels who touched the cloak of Christ, and was thereupon healed of her bleeding wounds (Mark 5:21-43, Matthew 9:18-26, Luke 8:40-56). From the Gospel, we know that she “had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:25-26).

When she heard about our Lord Jesus Christ, she came up behind Him in a crowd and touched His garment, hoping to be made well. Immediately, her bleeding stopped, and she felt healed of her affliction. Immediately, Jesus realized that power had gone out of Him, so He turned around to the crowd and said: “Who touched My clothes?”. The woman fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told Him it was her. Christ then said to her: “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed from your affliction.”

The 4th century ‘Ecclesiastical History’ by Eusebius notes that in gratitude, St Veronica made a statue of Christ and placed it in front of her house where everyone could venerate it. Having lived a holy life as a member of the early Church, St Veronica surrendered her soul to God.

Hieromonk John of the Iveron Icon Русская Православная Церковь в Маниле / Russian Orthodox Church in Manila celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Camarines Norte on Saturday, July 11th.

During the service, the newly baptized Zamudio family received the Holy Body and Blood of Christ for the first time.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, during the Apostles' Fast and just 2days before the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the 8 members of the Zamudio family household were received into the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Orthodox Church through the Holy Mysteries of Baptism and Chrismation in Talisay, Camarines Norte.

The Holy Mysteries were celebrated by Hieromonk John of the Iveron Icon Русская Православная Церковь в Маниле / Russian Orthodox Church in Manila, with the assistance of the godfather Theoktistos and his sons. The celebration was graciously hosted at Brankolei Pizza Bird House through the hospitality of Bro. Branko and Sis. Lory.

We give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for this joyous day as these newly illumined faithful were clothed in Christ and welcomed into His Holy Church.

Happy Feast of the Holy Glorious and All-Praiseworthy Leaders of the Apostles, Saints Peter and Paul! 🕊️✨

Greetings from St. Philip Russian Orthodox Church (Antiochian Patriarchate) here in Sharjah! Today, John, Xenia, and Christina had the joy of attending the Divine Liturgy in Arabic, beautifully celebrated by Archimandrite Isaac for this great feast.

Inside the beautiful church, they were also blessed to find and venerate a precious relic: the shoe of Saint Spyridon. St. Spyridon is famously known as the "Walking Saint" because his velvet slippers miraculously wear out each year as he travels the earth to answer prayers and help those in need.

May the prayers and intercessions of Saints Peter, Paul, and Spyridon be with us all! Amen. 🙏☦️
