37th Lord's Day SUNDAY | Grace: The Mission of God

Theme: A blessing received is a blessing to be given

📖 Scripture: Genesis 12:1–3
Throughout history, human sin brought brokenness, but God answered with His relentless grace. In Genesis 12, God called Abram—not because Abram earned it, but to make him a channel of His love to all nations.

3 Key Takeaways:
By Faith (v. 1): Stepping out of physical security to trust God’s unseen promises.
By Grace (v. 2): God meets us in our spiritual weakness and does for us what we could never do ourselves.
By Mission (v. 3): God blesses us to be a channel, not a reservoir. His grace is meant to be shared.

Illustration:
Consider William Carey, a poor shoemaker who left the comfort of England for India. He endured hardship, loss, and years without visible success, saying, "Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God." Through his obedience, countless lives were reached. Like Abram, Carey understood that the grace he received was never meant to stop with him.

Reflection:
God’s blessing isn't a prize to hoard—it is a mission to share. Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone so others can know His grace through you?

Paul G. Hiebert explains in his book, "Understanding Folk Religion" that human beings SEEK GUIDANCE primarily to navigate the practical uncertainties, sudden crises, and unexplainable misfortunes of daily life—such as illness, failed crops, or difficult personal choices. While high, formal religions often concentrate on ultimate questions like salvation, creation, and the afterlife, they frequently leave a gap regarding immediate, earthly concerns. To address these pressing everyday dilemmas, people turn to guidance to uncover the hidden spiritual reasons behind their circumstances, regain a sense of control, and restore harmony to their lives.

Acknowledging this reality of life, still we need a Biblical Answer as to why were are like that, and how should this reality must be redeemed in the light of the Scripture and through Jesus Christ.
