The Nicolaitans. Da Rev
REVELATION 2:6 Read here why Jesus said he hated this group.
The Nicolaitans were a group in the early church who mixed Christianity with the culture around them. They taught a kind of “grace” that didn’t require repentance, holiness, or real change. Jesus said He hated their works because their teaching looked spiritual but produced no transformation.
Friends, I need your attention today because Jesus didn't whisper about this.
He didn't suggest it.
He declared it.
In Revelation 2:6, Jesus said:
You hate the works of the Nicolaitans and I hate them too.
Let me tell you something: when JESUS says He hates something, the church better sit up straight.
WHO WERE THE NICOLAITANS?
They were a group that tried to mix the world with the church.
They preached a message that sounded spiritual, looked deep, and felt grace filled, but it produced no repentance, no holiness, and no transformation.
They said:
You can follow Jesus AND keep your idols.
You can love God AND love your sin.
You can walk in the Spirit AND live in the flesh.
That's not the gospel that's poison.
That's the Nicolaitan spirit.
THE SAME SPIRIT IS IN THE CHURCH TODAY
It shows up in messages that say:
God doesn't expect you to change.
Holiness is legalism.
Conviction is judgment.
Just be yourself God will bless it.
No!
That's not grace that's deception.
Grace doesn't pat you on the back while you drown.
Grace pulls you OUT of the water and sets your feet on solid ground.
WHAT THIS SPIRIT PRODUCES
The Nicolaitan spirit creates Christians who:
Look saved but live bound
Quote Scripture but ignore conviction
Sing worship but keep their idols
Talk about grace but reject repentance
It looks like freedom, but its chains.
It looks like Christianity, but its compromise.
It looks like grace, but it's a trap.
WHY JESUS HATED IT
Because it kills the fear of God.
It silences conviction.
It replaces the cross with comfort.
It replaces surrender with self-help.
It replaces holiness with hype.
Jesus didn't die to give us a comfortable Christianity.
He died to give us a new life.
Thank ya Jesus, Da Rev
