Today we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the joyful feast when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, fulfilling Christโ€™s promise. From fear and uncertainty, the Apostles were transformed into bold witnesses of the Gospel. Through the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Church was bornโ€”this is why Pentecost is called the birthday of the Church.

Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit continues to live and move within the Church and in each of us today. He gives strength to the weak, courage to the fearful, wisdom to the confused, and hope to those who are weary. He renews our hearts and leads us closer to Christ.

As followers of Christ, we are called to share this same Spirit through love, kindness, forgiveness, and faithful service.

Today, let us open our hearts once more and pray:
Come, Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

The excitement is getting real as the youth leaders officially conducted a site visit today, May 22, 2026, at New Balamban Elementary Schoolโ€”the official venue for the upcoming Parish Youth Camp 2026!

From checking classrooms, inspecting activity areas, identifying needed preparations, and planning adjustments for a smoother and more meaningful camp experienceโ€”today was all about preparation and teamwork!

A heartfelt thank you to the school administration for warmly welcoming the team, especially Ma'am Sheila Amor B. Pajo - School Head, represented by Maam Evelyn Ausan - Teacher III, together with Ma'am Gloria Labastida Abay for their assistance and support throughout the visit.

The site visit was led by Kalakbay James Bryan Alvarez - Parish Youth Coordinator together with Parish DYA President Jovelyn Ausan, and Ministry Heads Liemar Arias and Jasmin Deligero.

This is more than just preparationโ€”this is building a space where young people can grow in faith, friendship, and purpose.

Our Lady of Assumption Quasi Parish - Merville - Diocese of Tagum

May 17 | Blessed Ascension Sunday โœจ

Today, we honor the Ascension of the Lord โ€” the moment Jesus was raised into Heaven to be with the Father. His Ascension was not a farewell, but a promise that He remains with us always and prepares a place for us in His Kingdom.

Before ascending, Christ entrusted His followers with the mission of spreading His love, mercy, and Good News to all nations. Though unseen by our eyes, His presence continues to guide us through the Eucharist, His Word, and the Holy Spirit.

Ascension Sunday reminds us to keep our hearts fixed on Heaven. Amid lifeโ€™s struggles and uncertainties, we are invited to look upward in faith and hope, trusting that Jesus reigns in glory and walks beside us each day.

May this celebration renew our spirit, strengthen our trust in God, and inspire us to live as faithful witnesses of Christ.

Another meaningful and faith-filled day for our aspiring Altar Servers as they actively participated in the Basic Orientation Seminar (BOS) facilitated by Seminarias Earl Mijares and Kenjie Bastasa as speakers together with Derick Alagos. The seminar became an avenue for learning, fellowship, and deeper understanding of the sacred ministry of serving at the altar. With a total attendance of 58 participants composed of 26 Sakristans and 32 Lilies, everyone showed eagerness and enthusiasm throughout the whole activity. Special thanks also to Yuri for operating the manuscript and to our photographers Aj, Jerry, and June Rein for capturing the memorable moments of the seminar.

During the BOS, the facilitators thoroughly explained what it truly means to be an โ€œAltar Serverโ€ and the purpose behind serving in the Holy Mass. The participants were guided through the proper sequence and flow of serving during the liturgy, including demonstrations of the different responsibilities and actions done during the celebration. The new servers were also encouraged to volunteer and demonstrate the proper use of the liturgical items needed in serving, helping them gain confidence and hands-on experience in their ministry.

The seminar also included discussions about the basics of the Sacred Liturgy and a Q&A portion where participants were able to ask questions and clarify things regarding their service in the Church. Indeed, this orientation became a fruitful experience that strengthened not only their knowledge but also their commitment to serve God with discipline, reverence, and humility. HABEMUS PAPAM, PAPA LEON!

Today back in 2025, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected as the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church in the 2025 conclave after the death of Pope Francis in April.

Our Lady of Assumption Quasi Parish - Merville - Diocese of Tagum is continuously praying for the Holy Father.

๐‡๐€๐๐„๐Œ๐”๐’ ๐๐€๐๐€๐Œ! ๐–๐„ ๐‡๐€๐•๐„ ๐€ ๐๐Ž๐๐„!

With hearts lifted to heaven, we welcome Pope Leo XIV, the newly chosen shepherd of the Catholic Church. In this sacred moment, we offer prayers of thanksgiving for the Holy Spirit's guidance and ask for strength, wisdom, and compassion to fill his every step. May the Lord bless him with the courage of Peter, the tenderness of Francis, and the faith of the saints. May his words bring peace, his actions bring healing, and his presence be a light to a world in need.

Let us pray for our new Holy Father,
May the Spirit guide him, and may Christ strengthen him.
