WHY DO YOU STILL MEET THE PRIEST AFTER MASS FOR PRAYERS? ๐ณ๐ค
_________________
One day after Mass, a woman waited at the sacristy door and said,
โFather, please pray for me. I need your blessing.โ
The priest smiled gently and asked,
โMy dear, didnโt I already pray for you during the Mass?โ
She paused.
He continued:
โWhen I raised the Host, I prayed for you.
When I lifted the Chalice, I offered your life with Christโs.
When I blessed the people at the end, I blessed you.โ
She was quietโฆ then whispered,
โI never thought of it that way.โ
โ๏ธ Mass Is Not โBefore the Prayerโ, It Is the Prayer!
Many Catholics treat the Mass as something that ends before โreal prayersโ begin.
Thatโs why, after the dismissal, โThe Mass is ended, go in peaceโ, some still rush to the priest for โspecial prayersโ.
But the truth is:
Every Mass already contains the most powerful prayer any priest can ever offer.
Itโs not a prayer, itโs the sacrifice of Jesus Christ Himself.
During Mass, the priest is not praying his prayer, he is standing in the person of Christ, offering the prayer of Christ to the Father.
So when the priest says,
โThis is My Bodyโฆ This is My Blood,โ
that is Christ praying for you,
interceding for you,
offering Himself for you.
โ๏ธ The Mass Is the Highest Blessing
When the priest gives the final blessing,
โIn the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spiritโ,
that blessing is not ordinary.
It is the culmination of everything that has just happened on the altar.
You have been fed with the Word of God,
nourished by the Body of Christ,
and sealed with His peace.
There is no greater blessing than that!
โ๏ธ Why Then Do Many Still Wait?
Because many Catholics have not yet understood the depth of the Mass.
We are used to thinking that โpersonal prayersโ are stronger, or that the priest must lay hands to make it powerful.
But listen carefully:
The priestโs hands have just touched the Body of Christ.
His lips have just spoken the words of consecration.
His heart has just been united with the heart of the Eternal High Priest.
You cannot get any โstrongerโ prayer than that.
โ๏ธ Yes, Priests Can Still Pray for You
Of course, if you need a specific intention, for the sick, for exams, for work, you can always ask the priest to remember you.
Thatโs beautiful and good.
But never think that what happens after Mass is more powerful than what happened during it.
Because at Mass, the entire Church, saints, angels, the Blessed Mother, and Christ Himself, already prayed for you in one voice.
โ๏ธ Soโฆ Next Time You Leave Mass
Remember this:
When the priest blesses you at the end of Mass, he has already prayed for your healing, your family, your needs, your soul.
Youโve already stood at Calvary.
Youโve already received Christ.
Youโve already been blessed.
No private prayer can ever be greater than that.
๐
So when you go home after Mass, donโt say,
โI didnโt get Fatherโs prayer.โ
Instead, say,
โI received the prayer of Heaven itself.โ
