EASTER IS NOT YET OVER!
While many people think Easter lasts for only one day, the Church actually celebrates the Easter season for fifty daysโfrom Easter Sunday until Pentecost Sunday. This sacred period, known as Eastertide, is a continuous celebration of Christโs victory over sin and death through His Resurrection.
Throughout these fifty days, the Church reflects on the appearances of the Risen Christ, the joy of the Resurrection, and the preparation of the Apostles for the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Paschal Candle remains prominently displayed near the altar as a visible reminder that Christ, the Light of the World, has conquered darkness and death.
The Easter season reaches its culmination on Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, empowering the Church to continue the mission of Christ throughout the world. Thus, Easter is not simply a single solemnity, but an entire season of joy, hope, and renewed life in the Risen Lord.
