On November 30, 2025, we will join the Church Leaders Council for National Transformation, led by Most Rev. Jose Colin M. Bagaforo, D.D., in the nationwide collective action that will call all people of faith to boldly proclaim ‘Sobra Na, Tama Na, Ikulong Na!’ and ‘Huwag Kang Magnanakaw!’—a cry for justice rooted in the Gospel mandate to ‘seek justice’ (Is 1:17) and ‘act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God’ (Mi 6:8).

As decided during the Presbyteral Council on November 11, we will unite in the simultaneous ringing of bells at 12:00 noon, the wearing of white, and the hanging of visible streamers as our collective stand against corruption that wounds our nation and the poor.

Further details will be announced by your Parish Priest. We are highly encouraged to display tarpaulins in our parishes, schools, GKKs, community buildings, establishments, and even outside our homes; if you wish to do so, you may place your order through the link provided below.

In a heartfelt demonstration of solidarity and compassion, and under the leadership of General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, Director General of the Bureau of Corrections, and CCINSP Edgardo F. Mendoza Jr., Acting Superintendent of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, represented by CSINSP Jerome M. Glase and CO1 Ana Grace A. Guimban, in coordination with the Sto. Niño Chaplaincy headed by Rev. Fr. Noel Gastones, formally turned over cash donations to the Diocesan Social Action Ministry, led by Rev. Fr. Jojit M. Besinga.

The donations, which include contributions from DPPF employees and proceeds from a recently held fun run, are intended to support communities severely affected by the recent earthquake and typhoon.

The funds will be sent directly to the affected archdioceses and dioceses, where they will be used to provide urgent relief and long-term recovery support to displaced families and devastated areas.

This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of DPPF personnel and the chaplaincy to extend meaningful assistance beyond prison walls, embodying the values of service, compassion, and community engagement.

Rev. Fr. Besinga expressed deep gratitude for the initiative, noting that the ministry will ensure the donations reach the most vulnerable communities impacted by the calamities.

As communities across the country continue to face the devastating impacts of recent Typhoon Tino and with another weather disturbance approaching, Caritas Philippines the humanitarian and development arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), is calling on all Filipinos to unite in faith, charity, and action.

“Our readiness to help and our solidarity define who we are as a people,” said Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, President of Caritas Philippines. “Let us help one another—volunteer, share what we can, and pray for those affected.”

Caritas Philippines urges parishes, diocesan social action centers, civil society organizations, and volunteers to join hands in community work and extend relief assistance to affected areas. The national Caritas network is on the ground coordinating responses and encourages everyone to participate in local efforts to support families who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and security.

In a strong appeal, Caritas also calls on civil society organizations and people’s organizations to organize and mobilize relief interventions in the spirit of bayanihan and solidarity.

“When we stand together—when we pray, give, and serve together—we become instruments of God’s mercy,” Bishop Bagaforo added. “Gold is tested by fire, and our faith is refined through trials. May this be a time of renewed commitment to love and service.”

Caritas Philippines invites everyone to continue praying for safety and strength for all those affected, and to extend support through donations, volunteer work, or community outreach.

The Caritas YSLEp scholars and youth volunteers of the Diocese of Tagum planted thousands of endemic trees as part of the culmination of the Season of Creation.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Caritas Philippines visited the Diocesan Social Action Ministry (DSAM) – Tagum to conduct a Rapid Assessment in areas affected by the recent earthquake.

The purpose of the assessment was to gather accurate information on the condition of affected families, determine their immediate and long-term needs, and coordinate possible humanitarian responses.

Following the powerful earthquake that has shaken various parts of the Davao Region, including areas within our Diocese of Tagum, and caused major damage and casualties in the Province of Davao Oriental, we lift our hearts to God in faith and prayer.

The Diocese of Tagum invites everyone to fervently pray the Oratio Imperata for Protection from Calamities, asking the Lord for mercy upon the victims, strength for those affected, and protection for all.

May our united prayers bring comfort to those who suffer, hope to those in despair, and renewed trust in God’s loving providence.

SITREP No. 1 Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake – Davao Oriental, Philippines

A powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck offshore near Davao Oriental at 9:43 AM this morning. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 23 kilometers, intensifying its impact across several nearby provinces and dioceses.

Caritas Philippines is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining coordination with local Caritas/dioceses in the affected areas and partner in-country CIMOS (Caritas Germany, CRS, Caritas Spain). The Caritas Sub-Regional Humanitarian Team (DADITAMA) has been mobilized for ocular assessment and support. Further coordination with government disaster response agencies and humanitarian partners is ongoing.
