Sermon title:
Unwavering: Holding tightly to our Hope in Christ

โ€œBut My righteous one [the one justified by faith] shall live by faith [respecting manโ€™s relationship to God and trusting Him]; And if he draws back [shrinking in fear], My soul has no delight in him. [Hab 2:3, 4]โ€
โ€ญโ€ญHebrewsโ€ฌ โ€ญ10โ€ฌ:โ€ญ38โ€ฌ โ€ญAMPโ€ฌโ€ฌ

Hebrews 10:38 was written to encourage Jewish Christians who were facing persecution and pressure to abandon their faith in Jesus Christ and return to Judaism for safety and acceptance (Hebrews 10:32โ€“34).

The writer calls them to persevere in faith rather than retreat in fear, expressing confidence that genuine believers will endure by faith.

This verse is central to the Christian understanding of salvation and the life of faith. Its warning is not that God delights in punishing people, but that He is not pleased with unbelief or the deliberate rejection of Jesus Christ.

The context is not about a believer struggling with doubt or weakness. Instead, it concerns those who willfully reject Christ because following Him has become too costly (Hebrews 10:26โ€“27). Like the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:21โ€“22, they choose to walk away when obedience demands surrender and sacrifice.

Unwavering:
Holding tightly to our hope in Christ
07-19-27

1 Corinthians 7:31
Easy-to-Read Version
31 You should use the things of the world without letting them become important to you. This is how you should live, because this world, the way it is now, will soon be gone.

One of the most important lessons in life is this: When we place our faith and hope in Christ, we gain the wisdom to focus on what is eternal and what is temporary.

Many things compete for our attentionโ€”success, possessions, approval, comfort, and even our daily problems. While these things have their place in our lives, they are not meant to become the center of our lives.

Challenge:
Donโ€™t become overly attached to temporary things that you lose sight of what is eternal, donโ€™t let temporary comfort or worldly security pull your heart away from Christ.

They should never replace your devotion to Christ. Live in the world, but donโ€™t let the world control you.

Sermon Title
Unwavering: Holding tightly to our Hope in Christ
07-19-27

Hebrews 10:23-24
New Living Translation
23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

The language here is challenging us to hold on to Hope, with the same passion, same intensity that Jacob did when he wrestle and held on to that angel. โ€œI am not letting you go until you bless meโ€ [Gen.32:26]

The language, โ€œHold tightly without waveringโ€ describes a strong grip of someone, when it is a matter of life and death.

Challenge:
Life has a way of testing our faith. When the storms of life try to pull you away, don't loosen your grip on Christ. Hold unswervingly to the hope you profess, knowing that the One who promised is always faithful.

Holding tightly to Christ means choosing to trust Him even when your circumstances tempt you to give up. It is continuing to obey His Word when it is difficult, continuing to pray when heaven seems silent and continuing to believe God's promises even when you cannot yet see the outcome.

Faith is not proven when everything is going well; it is revealed when you continue to trust God in the midst of uncertainty.

Reflection:

Purpose gives direction to your life. It is shaped by your deepest values and convictions, determining the reason behind your decisions, actions, and the way you live. Without a clear purpose, it is easy to drift with the opinions, values, and priorities of the world.

This is at the heart of Romans 12:2. Paul calls believers not to be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. As our minds are renewed by God's truth, we begin to discern His willโ€”what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

Instead of allowing culture to define our priorities, we allow God's Word to shape our purpose.

A life centered on God's will is a life with direction.

Reflection: Passion without understanding

Many Christian have a strong desire or readiness for salvation to happenโ€”yet few pause to ask the most important question: "What exactly are we being saved from?"

Without the depth of understanding of who Jesus and what He had done, faith can stay at the level of expression rather than becoming something that reshapes perception and character.

John 3:16 does not merely promise eternal lifeโ€”it presents two distinct outcomes: "whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

This is more than a general offer of life; it reveals humanity's desperate need for rescue. The contrast between perishing and eternal life reminds us that apart from Christ, we stand under the consequences of sin.

Godโ€™s love saves us from the serious consequences of sin.

John, presents a clear reality: the greatest danger facing humanity is not poverty, sickness, or sufferingโ€”it is perishing.

The word โ€œperishโ€ carries a deeper meaning. It refers not just to physical death, but to spiritual separation from God, often understood as a state of brokenness. [Rev. 20:12-15]

Sermon Title: LEARNING FROM THE FAILURE OF PETER: 3 STRIKES BUT NOT OUT!

Growth doesnโ€™t always come from comfortโ€”it often comes from confrontation.

God, in His wisdom, allows situations that expose what is hidden within us. Not to harm usโ€”but to transform us.

In seasons of sickness, fear surfaces.
In adversity, doubt rises.

These are signs that something deeper is being brought to lightโ€”something God wants to refine.

Peter experienced this reality. In a moment of pressure, when fear overcame faith, he denied Jesus.

It was a painful failureโ€”that revealed the gap between who he thought he was and who he truly was in that moment.

Yet, that failure was not the end of Peterโ€™s story. It was part of his transformation.
