Holy Child Chapel

Holy Child Chapel To provide quality Religious/ Spiritual and Pastoral care services to the PN Military, Civilian personnel and their families. Nino. Fr.

In 1968, units of the Philippine Marines Brigade, then still a battalion, started occupying the Navy reservation at Fort Bonifacio, no chapel existed at that time and the Marine Chaplain, and then Fr. Tranquilino Cruz CHS (PN) used to offer religious services at the barracks. Construction of the chapel started in 1969. Four (4) Marcos pre-fobs were utilized as basic structures. COMMODORE YSMAEL LO

MIBAO AFP (Ret) then FOIC, PN foreseeing more Navy units coming to occupy the reservation decided to enlarge the chapel. On 15 June 1969 the chaplain office and quarters were added behind the chapel. On 15 June 1969 the chapel was ready. It was blest by late Cardinal Rufino J. Santos D.D., then Military Vicar, and dedicated to the Sto. On 31 July 1970 the Bonifacio Naval Station was activated and they chapel becomes officially the BNS Chapel. Thus the former Manila Naval Station gave way to Bonifacio Naval Station. In 1970, COMMODORE DISCORO PAPA AFP (Ret), then FOIC, PN had an annex constructed near the chapel to serve as Mortuary. Due to lack of office space at HPN, the Navy Chaplain holds office at the Station Chaplain's office, BNS. In 1974 a through renovation of the chapel begun. ANGELES, then the Station Chaplain, was in-charge of the construction. Through the efforts RADM HILARIO M RUIZ AFP and Mrs. CATALINA M RUIZ, the BNS CHAPEL has acquired a completely new look. In addition, a mortuary, better adapted to the present needs of the Navy, was constructed in place of the old. Plan for the further improvement of the chapel and its adjoining areas include the renovation of the rectory and the offices of the Chaplains. When completely developed, the chapel area will be an expressive manifestation of the Command's concern for the Spiritual Welfare of the whole Philippine Navy.๏ปฟ

RESPECT SACRED SPACES! RESPECT THE HOUSE OF GOD!

Maybe, you've already seen the video of a content creater spitting on the Holy Water font. Disrespectful isn't it?

The church is sacred space because offered there on a daily basis is the holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which is โ€œthe source and the summit of the Christian life,โ€ because in it we participate anew in offering sacramentally Christโ€™s one redemptive Sacrifice of Calvary! (CCC 1324).

In addition, Jesusโ€™ Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament remains in church tabernacles 24/7, which is another reason to have proper reverence while inside of a church. Church tabernacles located in sanctuaries, and often behind altar rails, are a New Covenant analogue to the holy of holies in the Old Covenant Temple in Jerusalem.

God is indeed present everywhere (omnipresent), and yet he manifested his presence most intimately in Old Covenant times in the holy of holies. In the Old Covenant, only the high priest could enter the holy of holies and only once a year (see Leviticus 16). To do so on any other day of the year would result in death, whether the high priest or anyone elseโ€™s (Lev. 16:1โ€“2; Num. 3:10; 18:7. In his offering himself on Calvary for us, Jesus enables the tearing of the veil that separated the holy of holies from the holies in the Temple (Matt. 27:50-54; see Heb. 8:1-7). This dramatic action symbolically conveys that we can now draw near to him, which we do in receiving the Eucharist or participating in Eucharistic adoration. Indeed, Jesus manifests his divine Presence most intimately in the Eucharist.

Finally, be mindful about correcting people in church if they are talking before or after Mass. It is good for parish pastors to encourage a reverent silence in preparation for Mass, but some brief conversations may take place for one reason or another. Better to get an usher involved if a conversation is not brief and you donโ€™t the people involved well.

In addition, some churches donโ€™t have parish halls, or not ones that are easily accessible to the parish church, and they also may not have large vestibules or gathering spaces for conversation, particularly if they are older churches. In such cases, pastors may allow conversations among families in the church after Sunday Masses. Given the circumstances, perhaps the best one can do is ask the pastor to encourage the families to keep their conversations in lower tones out of respect for those who might remain afterward to pray.

APPEAL FOR PRAYER
FOR THE HEALING OF POPE FRANCIS

The Holy See Press Office informed us that the health condition of the Holy Father presents โ€œa complex picture.โ€ Tests reveal that he has bilateral pneumonia that requires additional treatment.

In union with the whole Church, let us pray fervently for the healing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. Archbishop Charles John Brown, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, has made an appeal to pray for the speedy recovery of the Holy Father as well as for all the doctors and nurses who are taking care of him.

In response to this call, I would like to request our parishes and communities to organize community prayers for the intention of Pope Francis, like gathering our people for a Holy Hour for the Healing of the Sick, especially of the Pope. Let us likewise offer our personal and family prayers for this intention.

Let us unite ourselves in prayer in this trying time for the Church.

Loving and merciful God, we implore You
to look kindly upon Your servant, Pope Francis,
Touch him with your compassion and consolation.
Restore his health and renew his strength
in mind, body, and spirit.

Surround him with your peace
and the support of the prayers of your holy people.
We place Pope Francis in your healing love
through the doctors, nurses,
and medical professionals who take care of him.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mary, Health of the Sick, pray for us.
