The twentieth century saw a great resurgence in devotion to the Mother of God. Several decades prior to that century, on December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX declared the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Four years later, the Blessed Mother appeared to Bernadette Soubirous, a fourteen-year-old peasant girl, in Lourdes, France. In this apparition, when Bernadette asked who the Heavenly Lady was, she responded, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” This mystical confirmation of the papal dogma sparked great devotion to the Mother of God, and Lourdes became a frequent pilgrim site where many miracles have taken place.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven is the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. This belief is part of the treasury of the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, and parts of Anglicanism. In the Eastern Orthodox churches, the Assumption is referred as the Dormition of the Theotokos (a Greek word literally meaning “God bearer”). Notice that the belief leaves open the question of Mary’s natural death.

“Huwag kayong matakot; si Hesus ito!” 🎶🌊

Tulad ni Pedro, minsan ay nadadaig din tayo ng alon at takot sa gitna ng ating paglilingkod. Ngunit ipinapaalala sa atin ng Ebanghelyo ngayon: panatilihin nating nakatutok ang ating mga mata at awit sa Panginoon, at hindi sa lakas ng bagyo.

Magpatuloy tayong umawit nang may matatag na pananalig! 🙏✨

The Transfiguration reveals Jesus as the divine Son of God, bridging heaven and earth. It prepared the disciples for His upcoming suffering and foreshadowed His glorious resurrection and return.
