In Islam, mothers hold a high status. Consider the sacrifices they make: nine months of pregnancy, countless sleepless nights, and so much more. We, as Muslims, must repay their love and dedication by cherishing and caring for them, showing our appreciation through kindness, gifts, and loving words a deeply rewarding act of worship.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
A man came to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and said, "O Allah's Messenger! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Your mother." The man said, "Who is next?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Your mother."
The man further said, "Who is next?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Your mother."
The man asked for the fourth time, "Who is next?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Your father." (Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 5971 and Sahih Muslim 2548)
This highlights that a mother's importance extends far beyond a single day she deserves our respect, care, and obedience (within the bounds of Allah's will) throughout her life. It's a lifetime of honoring our mothers, not just a single holiday.
May Allah grant us the strength and wisdom to fulfill our obligations towards our mothers, and may He bless them with health, happiness, and the highest place in Jannah for their sacrifices and unwavering love. Ameen
