“I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.”–Ecclesiastes 1:14 (KJV)
Every day, we pour ourselves into so many things. We study, work, serve our families, care for others, and carry responsibilities that often leave us physically and emotionally drained. Yet after all the busyness, we sometimes find ourselves asking, Why do I still feel empty?
Solomon had everything the world could offer—wisdom, wealth, success, and influence. But after experiencing it all, he concluded that everything “under the sun,” or everything apart from God, is vanity and vexation of spirit.
💌 For young women, the pursuit of acceptance and validation can feel exhausting.
💌 For working women, achievements and promotions may still leave the heart unsatisfied.
💌 For wives and mothers, the endless cycle of responsibilities can feel overwhelming and unnoticed.
The lesson of Ecclesiastes is simple but powerful: when God is not at the center, even good things can feel empty. But when we live for the Lord, nothing is wasted. Our ordinary routines become sacred. Our unseen sacrifices become meaningful. Our daily work becomes worship.
Are you spending your strength on things that will fade, or on what has eternal value?
Everything apart from God is vanity, but a life lived for Him is full of purpose.
