Parish Music Ministry Joyfully Honors Feast of Santa Cecilia
The Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish Music Ministry transformed the Old Parish Church into a vibrant haven of faith and music on November 22, 2025, as it celebrated the feast of Santa Cecilia, revered patron saint of musicians. The annual gathering drew hundreds of singers from the parish’s seven districts, each one bringing their unique voice to a day filled with harmony, fellowship, and devotion.
The celebration opened with a solemn Mass presided over by parish priest Rev. Fr. Antonio M. Galela. His homily highlighted the power of music in deepening prayer and lifting the spirit, reminding the ministry of its sacred role in enriching the liturgy. The choir’s unified voices during the Mass reflected both their dedication and the profound meaning of the feast they were honoring.
After the liturgical celebration, participants shared a warm and lively salo-salo, turning the church grounds into a space of community and gratitude. Laughter and conversation flowed as singers from different districts bonded over shared experiences and a common love for church service.
During the gathering, Rev. Fr. Galela and Rev. Fr. Gil Jun Sacupayo delivered heartfelt and thought-provoking messages. They commended the ministry’s unwavering commitment, encouraged them to continually refine their craft, and challenged them to keep using their talents not just for music, but for mission.
To add spirit and excitement to the event, the organizers prepared fun and engaging activities, including a quiz bowl that tested the members’ knowledge of music and liturgy, and a solo singing contest that showcased individual talent within the ministry. Friendly competition blended with camaraderie, creating an atmosphere of joy and inspiration.
The celebration of Santa Cecilia became more than just a feast day—it was a reaffirmation of the ministry’s identity, purpose, and unity. Through song, service, and spirited fellowship, the music ministers once again echoed the message of their patron saint: that music, when offered with love and faith, becomes a prayer that resonates far beyond the walls of the church.
