The Mother of Perpetual Help Parish was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm from September 13-15, 2024, as it proudly hosted the inaugural Mother of Mercy Vicariate Youth Congress. Under the theme โDuyog-ambit sa paglakaw diha sa Pagtuo, Gugma ug Paglaumโ (A Journey in Faith, Love, and Hope), the event marked a significant milestone for the vicariate's youth community.
Approximately 300 delegates gathered for this landmark occasion, representing various parishes within the vicariate. The congress served as a platform for youth leaders and members from six participating parishes: Mother of Mercy Parish in Barobo, Saint Isidore Labrador Parish in Gamut, Barobo, Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in Tagbina, San Pedro Calungsod Parish in Sta. Juana, Tagbina, Saint Augustine Parish in Hinatuan, and Mt. Carmel Quasi-Parish in Dugmanon, Hinatuan.
The event aimed to foster a deeper connection among the youth, emphasizing the values of faith, love, and hope. Through a series of engaging workshops, inspirational talks, and communal activities, participants explored their roles in the Church and their communities, reinforcing their commitment to spiritual growth and collective action.
The activity was graced by the presence of Most Rev. Raul B. Dael, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Tandag; Rev. Fr. Ronald Josoy, Diocesan Youth Director; and Bro. Hadji L. Luna, Diocesan Youth Leader. Their involvement added a significant dimension to the congress, inspiring participants with their guidance and support.
The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who contributed to the success of the congress. Special thanks were given to Hon. Glaiza Jane V. Polizon-Lanete, Tagbina Municipal Mayor; Hon. Generoso Naraiso, Tagbina Municipal Vice-Mayor; Hon. Johnflor Ramas, Sangguniang Bayan Member; Rev. Fr. Jay Jabagaton, Vicariate Youth Director; Rev. Fr. Antonio M. Galela, ISKP Parish Priest; Rev. Fr. JP Lozada, Parochial Vicar; the Parish Pastoral Council; the Parish Finance Council; foster parents; and all others who played a role in making the event a resounding success.
The success of the Mother of Mercy Vicariate Youth Congress sets a promising precedent for future gatherings and reflects the growing engagement of the youth within the vicariate. As the delegates returned to their respective parishes, they carried with them not only memories of a remarkable event but also a deepened commitment to living out the values of their faith.
