The world is searching for hope in many places, yet true peace is found only in Christ. While there is still time, may we never stay silent about the grace, mercy, and salvation found in Jesus. Every soul matters, every life is precious, and every moment is an opportunity to share His love.

GROW IN GRACE

Text: 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

INTRODUCTION

Growth is a natural expectation of life. A child is expected to grow, a student is expected to learn, and a believer is expected to mature spiritually. However, spiritual growth is not automatic. Many Christians remain stagnant because they neglect the very thing that produces growth—grace.

Grace is not just the starting point of salvation; it is the continuing power for sanctification. The Christian life begins, continues, and ends in grace.

1. Grace is the Foundation of Growth

Grace is God’s unmerited favor. It is freely given, yet it must be actively received and lived out.

Ephesians 2:8-9
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Salvation is by grace, but spiritual growth requires our cooperation with that grace. God gives the ability, but we must respond in obedience.

Grace is like soil—without it, nothing grows. But even with good soil, seeds must be planted and nurtured.

2. Growth Requires Intentional Effort

Spiritual growth does not happen by accident. It requires discipline, desire, and daily pursuit.

2 Peter 1:5-7
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.”

The Christian life is not passive. We must:

Read the Word of God

Apply it in our daily lives

Pray consistently

Walk in obedience

Growth is intentional. If we are not growing, we are drifting.

3. Growth Produces Transformation

True spiritual growth results in a changed life.

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

As we grow in grace:

We become more like Christ

We learn patience

We learn to forgive

Our character reflects Christ

Transformation is the evidence of true growth.

ILLUSTRATION

A plant does not grow overnight. It needs sunlight, water, and care every day. If neglected, it withers.

In the same way, a Christian who neglects prayer, Bible reading, and obedience will become spiritually weak. But one who consistently abides in God will grow steadily and bear fruit.

Jesus said in John 15:5 (KJV):

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

The more we understand grace, the more humble we become.
Growing in grace is not becoming perfect—it is becoming more dependent on God.

CONCLUSION

Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. It is rooted in grace, requires effort, and results in transformation. God desires that every believer grow—not remain a spiritual infant.

APPLICATION

Ask yourself:

Am I growing in grace, or am I spiritually stagnant?

Do I intentionally spend time in God’s Word daily?

Is there visible transformation in my life?

Am I becoming more like Christ in my attitude and actions?

Practical Steps:

Daily Devotion – Set time to read and meditate on the Bible

Prayer Life – Develop consistent communication with God

Obedience – Apply what you learn immediately

Dependence on Grace – Trust God daily, not your own strength

FINAL CHALLENGE

Do not be content where you are spiritually.
Grow in grace. Walk with God daily. Depend on Him fully.

Text: Proverbs 28:20 (KJV)

> “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.”

INTRODUCTION

In a world driven by speed, success, and shortcuts, faithfulness has become rare. Many want instant results—instant success, instant wealth, instant recognition. But God is not looking for talented people alone—God is looking for faithful people.

Faithfulness is the foundation of a life that pleases God. It is not about how fast you rise, but how steady you walk with Him.

> Key Truth: God rewards faithfulness, not just ability.

1. THE CHARACTER OF THE FAITHFUL MAN

Luke 16:10 (KJV)

> “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…”

Insights:

Faithfulness starts in the small things

God measures consistency, not convenience

Before promotion, there must be proven character

Applications:

Be faithful in your devotions

Be faithful in your ministry

Be faithful in your responsibilities at home and church

Principle:

Be a good steward of your Time, Talent, and Treasure.

2. THE CONSISTENCY OF THE FAITHFUL MAN — CERTAINTY OF BLESSINGS

Deuteronomy 28:1–2 (KJV)

> “...all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee…”

Insights:

Blessings are not chased—they are the result of obedience

Faithfulness produces overflowing blessings

God’s blessings are sure, not uncertain

Illustration:

A farmer does not rush the harvest. He plants, waters, and waits. In due time, the harvest comes. Faithfulness works the same way.

3. THE CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS

A. Spiritual Blessings

Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)

> “Blessed be the God… who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings…”

Peace, joy, strength, and spiritual growth

B. Material / Physical Blessings

Malachi 3:10 (KJV)

> “...I will… pour you out a blessing…”

Malachi 3:11 (KJV)

> “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…”

God provides and protects what He gives

C. Eternal Rewards

Matthew 25:21 (KJV)

> “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…”

Insight:

Faithfulness now is rewarded later—in this life and in eternity.

4. THE CONDITION OF BLESSING — THERE IS A PROCESS

Psalm 1:3 (KJV)

> “...whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Insights:

There are no shortcuts in God’s plan

Blessing follows obedience and patience

God works through a process, not pressure

Illustration: Joseph

Pit → Prison → Palace

He was faithful in every stage

God promoted him at the right time

Application:

Stop chasing blessings

Start practicing obedience and faithfulness

5. THE CONTRAST: THE FAITHFUL MAN VS. THE HASTY MAN

1 Timothy 6:9 (KJV)

> “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare…”

The Hasty Man:

Sacrifices integrity for money

Seeks quick riches

Gains fast but loses God’s blessing

Truth:

Wealth without God leads to emptiness

Fast money leads to slow destruction

CHALLENGE QUESTIONS

Are you pursuing money or God?

Are you chasing success or building faithfulness?

APPLICATION

Choose faithfulness over fame

Choose integrity over opportunity

Choose God’s timing over your timing

Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

> “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

CONCLUSION

Faithfulness may seem slow, unnoticed, and unrewarded—but in God’s eyes, it is priceless.

The faithful man:

Walks steadily

Obeys consistently

Trusts completely

And in the end—he abounds with blessings.

> Final Thought:
Be faithful where you are, with what you have, and God will take care of the rest.

THE PRINCIPLES OF HONOR

Why We Honor Our Mother and Our Role as Children

Text: Exodus 20:12 (KJV)

> “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

INTRODUCTION

Motherhood is one of the greatest gifts God has given to mankind. A mother is often the first teacher, first caregiver, and first example of love a child experiences.

Yet in today’s world, honor toward parents—especially mothers—is slowly being neglected. Many children grow up taking their mothers for granted, forgetting the sacrifices made for them.

God, in His wisdom, placed this command in the Ten Commandments—not as a suggestion, but as a divine principle with a promise.

Insight:
When we honor our mother, we are not only showing love—we are obeying God and reflecting His character.

A. What Does It Mean to Honor?

1. To Honor is to Value Her Presence

Ephesians 6:2

> “Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;”

Insight:
Honor begins by appreciating that your mother is still in your life.

Illustration:
Many only realize the value of their mother when she is gone. Like a priceless treasure, her presence should never be taken lightly.

2. To Honor is to Reverence Her Position

> “Rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man…” — Leviticus 19:32

Insight:
A mother’s role is God-given. Respecting her is recognizing God’s authority in placing her in your life.

3. To Honor is to Prize Her Sacrifice

> “Her children arise up, and call her blessed…” — Proverbs 31:28

Insight:
A mother’s sacrifices are often unseen, but they are deeply valuable.

Illustration:
A mother stays awake at night when her child is sick, works tirelessly without recognition, and gives even when she has little left.

I. The Reason for Honor — Why We Honor Our Mother

1. Because of Her Sacrifice

> “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life…” — John 15:13

Insight:
A mother reflects sacrificial love daily.

2. Because of Her Service

Proverbs 31:27

> “She looketh well to the ways of her household…”

Insight:
A godly mother serves faithfully, often without applause.

3. Because of Her Spiritual Influence

2 Timothy 1:5

> “…the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice…”

Insight:
A mother’s faith can shape generations.

Illustration:
Timothy became a great servant of God because of the spiritual foundation laid by his mother and grandmother.

II. The Requirement of Honor — How We Honor Our Mother

1. Honor Through Our Attitude

> “A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.” — Proverbs 10:1

Insight:
Respect begins in the heart before it is seen in actions.

2. Honor Through Our Actions

Through Obedience and Responsibility

> “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.” — Ephesians 6:1

Insight:
True honor is not just words—it is obedience and a responsible life.

3. Honor Through Our Affection

> “My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.” — Proverbs 1:8

Insight:
Love should be expressed, not assumed.

Illustration:
A simple “I love you,” a hug, or spending time with your mother can mean more than material gifts.

III. The Result of Honor — What Happens When We Honor Our Mother

A. Promise of Longevity

> “…that thy days may be long…” — Exodus 20:12

B. Prosperity in Life

> “…and that it may be well with thee…” — Ephesians 6:3

Insight:
God blesses those who obey His command.

C. Pleasing the Lord

> “Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.” — Colossians 3:20

Insight:
Honoring your mother is an act of worship to God.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

1. Express Honor Verbally

Say “Thank you”

Say “I love you”

Speak respectfully

> “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…” — Ephesians 4:29

2. Demonstrate Honor Daily

Help without being asked

Be responsible

Listen and obey

3. Show Honor Continually

Not only on Mothers’ Sunday

But every day of your life

> “Be thou faithful…” — Revelation 2:10

ILLUSTRATION

There was a young man who became successful in life. He had a good job, a house, and everything he ever wanted. One day, he received news that his mother had passed away.

As he stood beside her coffin, he wept and said,
"I gave her everything—except my time, my attention, and my honor while she was still alive."

Lesson:
Do not wait until it is too late to honor your mother.

CONCLUSION

Honoring our mother is:

A command from God

A reflection of our character

A source of blessing in our life

If we truly love God, we must show it by honoring the ones He has placed over us—especially our mother.

FINAL CHALLENGE

If your mother is still alive today—
Honor her. Appreciate her. Love her.

Do not delay. Do not assume you have more time.

Because one day, the opportunity to honor her will be gone.

THE CURE FOR DISCOURAGEMENT IN THE RACE OF LIFE

Text: Hebrews 12:1–3 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

Life is often compared to a race—not a short sprint, but a long and demanding marathon. Along the way, every believer faces moments of discouragement, weariness, and even the temptation to give up.

The recipients of the book of Hebrews were believers who were tired, persecuted, and tempted to quit. The writer encouraged them to continue running by pointing them to Jesus Christ, the perfect example and source of strength.

Today, many Christians experience the same struggle:

Problems in the family

Physical exhaustion

Spiritual dryness

Disappointments in ministry

But praise God—there is a cure for discouragement, and it is found in running the race God’s way.

I. Commit to a Life of Faithful Running

Hebrews 12:1

> “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

A. This Requires Preparation

A runner must be disciplined and prepared. The Christian life is no different.

1. Freedom from Weights that Restrict

Weights are not always sinful, but they slow us down.

Insight:
Good things can become harmful if they hinder your walk with God.

> “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient…” — 1 Corinthians 6:12

Illustration:
An athlete removes anything heavy before a race. Imagine a runner wearing a backpack full of stones—he will not finish well. Likewise, burdens such as worry, distractions, or worldly pursuits can weigh us down.

2. Freedom from the Sins that Entangle

Sin easily traps and destroys momentum.

> “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:22

Insight:
Sin is like a vine—it wraps around you slowly until you cannot move freely.

B. This Requires Patience

Running the Christian race requires endurance.

> “In your patience possess ye your souls.” — Luke 21:19

> “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

Illustration:
A marathon runner does not quit when tired. He presses on because he knows the finish line is ahead.

II. Commit to a Life of Focused Running

Hebrews 12:2–3

> “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”

A. Focused on the Person of Jesus

Insight:
Discouragement often comes when we compare ourselves with others.

> “But they measuring themselves by themselves… are not wise.” — 2 Corinthians 10:12

Truth:
Your race is not their race. Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Illustration:
A runner who keeps looking sideways will lose speed and direction. The only way to run well is to look forward.

B. Focus on the Performance of Jesus

1. He Finished Our Race for Us

Jesus endured the cross and completed the work of salvation.

> “It is finished.” — John 19:30

2. He Fixed Our Race for Us

Victory is already secured through Christ.

> “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57

Insight:
We are not running for victory—we are running from victory.

III. Commit to a Life of Fulfilled Running

Hebrews 12:2–3

A. The Fulfillment of Remembering

Insight:
When we forget what Christ has done, discouragement easily enters.

> “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31

Illustration:
Like soldiers who remember past victories, believers gain strength by remembering God's faithfulness.

B. The Fulfillment of Reward

God rewards faithfulness.

> “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10

C. The Fulfillment of Resting

There is eternal rest for the believer.

> “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” — Hebrews 4:9

Insight:
The race is hard, but the rest will be worth it.

CONCLUSION

Discouragement is real—but it is not final.

The cure is not found in quitting, complaining, or comparing.
The cure is found in:

Faithful running (discipline and endurance)

Focused running (eyes on Jesus)

Fulfilled running (remembering His promises)

> “For consider him… lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” — Hebrews 12:3

APPLICATION

1. Examine Your Life

What weights are slowing you down?

What sins need to be confessed and removed?

2. Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

Spend time daily in prayer and the Word

Stop comparing your life with others

3. Keep Running

Do not quit when things get hard

Trust that God is working even in trials

4. Come to Jesus Today

If you are discouraged, weary, or ready to give up—run to Him, not away from Him

> “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

FINAL CHALLENGE

If you are battling discouragement today—
Come to Jesus. Stay in the race. Finish strong.

There is help in Jesus.

SPIRITUAL OBESITY
Text: James 1:22 (KJV)

> “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

INTRODUCTION

In today’s generation, we are surrounded by access to truth—sermons online, Bible apps, devotionals, and teachings. Yet, despite this abundance, many Christians remain spiritually weak.

Just like physical obesity comes from consuming more than what is used, spiritual obesity happens when we keep receiving God’s Word but fail to apply it.

➡️ The problem is not lack of knowledge—but lack of obedience.
➡️ Many believers are overfed but under-exercised spiritually.

Key Thought:
👉 “Too much knowledge in the head without practice in life leads to spiritual stagnation.”

1. THE DANGER OF SPIRITUAL CONSUMPTION WITHOUT APPLICATION

a. Hearing Becomes a Habit

Many believers become professional listeners.

They attend services regularly

They enjoy preaching

They take notes

But nothing changes.

📖 Luke 6:46 (KJV)

> “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

👉 Exposure to truth is not the same as obedience to truth.

Insight:
Hearing repeatedly without responding hardens the heart.

b. Knowledge Can Inflate Without Transformation

📖 1 Corinthians 8:1 (KJV)

> “Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.”

We can study forgiveness but still hold grudges

We can study prayer but never pray

We can know doctrine but lack devotion

👉 We can be spiritually informed but still spiritually deformed.

Illustration:
A person reads books about exercise every day—but never exercises.
Result? No change.

2. THE DECEPTION OF SPIRITUAL OBESITY

a. False Sense of Growth

📖 2 Timothy 3:7 (KJV)

> “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

👉 Knowledge without obedience creates the illusion of maturity.

Insight:
Information is not transformation.

b. Substituting Emotion for Obedience

Feeling convicted but not changing

Crying at the altar but not obeying

📖 Ezekiel 33:31 (KJV)

> “With their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.”

👉 Emotion is not obedience.

Truth:
Tears do not equal transformation—obedience does.

3. THE CURE: BECOMING DOERS OF THE WORD

a. Obedience Activates Growth

📖 John 13:17 (KJV)

> “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”

👉 Revelation without application produces stagnation.

b. Start Small but Be Consistent

If the Word says forgive → forgive someone today

If the Word says pray → set a time daily

If the Word says give → start giving

📖 Luke 16:10 (KJV)

> “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”

👉 Growth happens one obedient step at a time.

Truth:
Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

c. Build a Lifestyle of Action

📖 Matthew 7:24 (KJV)

> “Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them… I will liken him unto a wise man…”

Don’t just highlight Scripture—live it

Don’t just memorize Scripture—practice it

👉 Obedience must become a lifestyle, not an occasional act.

ILLUSTRATION

Two people hear the same sermon:

One writes detailed notes but does nothing

The other applies one principle that same day

After a year:

The first remains the same

The second grows spiritually strong

👉 The difference is not knowledge—it is obedience.

KEY TRUTH

👉 Small acts of obedience produce big spiritual results.

CONCLUSION

Spiritual obesity is dangerous because:

It looks like growth

It feels like progress

But produces no real change

👉 A full head with an empty life is a spiritual tragedy.

📖 James 4:17 (KJV)

> “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

APPLICATION

Ask yourself:

1. What truth have I heard but not obeyed?

2. What is one command I can apply today?

3. Am I growing in knowledge—or in obedience?

Practical Steps This Week:

✔ Choose one truth from Scripture and apply it immediately

✔ Set a daily time for prayer

✔ Practice forgiveness toward someone

✔ Act on conviction without delay

FINAL CHALLENGE

👉 Obedience is the proof that the Word of God is alive in you.

Don’t just hear the Word.
Don’t just agree with the Word.
👉 Live the Word.
