Diocesan Social Action Commission of Tagbilaran Joins 42nd NASAGA National Social Action General Assembly

The Diocesan Social Action Commission of Tagbilaran participated in the 42nd National Social Action General Assembly (NASAGA) 2026, held on February 2–6, 2026, at the Mother of Grace Convention Center in Tagaytay City.

Centered on the theme “Sulong-Padayon: Pag-asa, Pananagutan, Pagbabago,” the national gathering brought together diocesan social action directors, workers, and volunteers from across the country to reflect on the Church’s continuing mission of social transformation. The assembly served as a venue for dialogue, shared discernment, and collaboration in responding to present social challenges, rooted in faith and guided by the call to hope, responsibility, and meaningful change.

Representing the Diocese of Tagbilaran were Rev. Fr. Raindy Alpuerto, who is in charge of Laudato Si’, the environmental ministry under the commission, together with volunteer workers Rhenan Reformina and Jessica Cuaresma. The delegation actively participated in plenary sessions and discussions that emphasized social responsibility, care for creation, and solidarity with the poor and vulnerable.

The 42nd NASAGA also served as a space for renewal and encouragement, affirming that social action remains an essential expression of the Church’s pastoral mission. Strengthened by the spirit of sulong-padayon, the delegates return to the Diocese of Tagbilaran inspired to continue advancing programs and initiatives that embody hope, accountability, and transformative action in their communities.

Caritas Philippines and Caritas Española Visit Bohol Communities

The Diocese of Tagbilaran warmly welcomed Caritas Philippines and Caritas Española in their recent solidarity visit to Bohol.

The delegation visited the BOSCOFA Farmers Association in Baang, Catigbian, where livelihood efforts continue to grow. From an initial donation of two carabaos, the community now cares for five—supporting farming and transport needs. Farmers have also embraced digital marketing to promote their organic produce, showing resilience and innovation.

We in the Diocese of Tagbilaran extend our heartfelt thanks to Caritas Philippines and Caritas Española for their enduring support. Their presence affirms our shared mission of empowering communities and nurturing hope.

Church, Agencies Conduct Needs Assessment for Booy Fire Victims

Representatives of the Diocese of Tagbilaran Social Action Commission, together with government and humanitarian agencies, gathered on Tuesday at BWS Gymnasium, to conduct a needs assessment survey for families affected by the recent fire in Brgy. Booy.

The initiative, led by Sto. Niño Chaplaincy officers under Fr. Julius Lupot, sought to determine how the Church can extend immediate and long-term assistance to the 14 families from eight households that lost their homes.

Joining the effort were Fr. Richard Pongase, SAC, diocesan disaster coordinator; Fr. Bryan dela Concepcion, director of Balay sa Kabus; Fr. Jofel Naraga, diocesan almoner; and Fr. Jingboy S**o, diocesan administrator and Director of the Social Actions Commission. They were accompanied by representatives from the Tagbilaran City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), the Philippine Red Cross, and family heads of the fire victims.

The assessment is a first step toward coordinated relief and recovery efforts that will involve both Church and civic organizations.
