I said, "Let me walk in the field.";
God said, "No, walk in the town";
I said, "There are no flowers there";
He said, "No flowers, but a crown."
I said, "But the sky is black,
There is nothing but noise and din";
But He wept as He sent me back,
"There is more," He said, "there is sin."
I said, "But the air is thick, and smog is veiling the sun";
He answered, "Yet souls are sick, and your work is yet undone."
I said, "I will miss the light, and friends will miss me, they say";
He answered, "Choose tonight, if I am to miss you, or they."
I pleaded for time to be given;
He said, "Is it hard to decide? It will not seem hard in Heaven to have followed the steps of your Guide."
I cast one look at the field, then set my foot to the town;
He said, "My child do you yield? Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"
Then into His hand went mine, and into my heart came He.;
And I walk in a light Divine, the path i feared to see."

Reflection:
There are so many decisions to make in life. A major one for me was to leave the Praise and Worship Team in favor of God's leading for more work outside the church. The team was my "field," - so many 'flowers' in it, so many 'friends' with whom to exchange hugs and kisses, so much 'sunshine' in singing great songs for the Lord to lead the church to praise Him. But there was something lacking, something tugging at my heart with the question of, "is this what God wants you to do for the rest of your life?" Well, why not? Souls were involved: my team-mates, the church... But then God intruded my thoughts more and more, even making use of 'circumstances' to make me see His plan. And finally, after casting one long look at the 'field' I was in, basking in His sunshine and enjoying the comfort for quite a long while, I placed my hand in His. Writing a note of goodbye, I decided to leave the 'flowers' for the 'crown', and get on with the work God has truly intended me to do. Glory to His name!
