Tidbits of the Bishop of Tagbilaran

𝐅𝐫. 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨 𝐅. 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐨, 𝐉𝐫. was born on October 16, 1965, in Tagbilaran City. He is a resident of Manga District. He completed his secondary education and studied philosophy at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary, followed by theology at San Carlos Seminary in Cebu City.

He was ordained a priest on April 26, 1993, and previously served as the Vicar General of the Diocese of Tagbilaran before his election to the episcopate, becoming Tagbilaran’s eighth bishop.

Prior to his appointment as Vicar General and later as Diocesan Administrator, Bishop S**o served as the chair of the Commission on Social Action and was the priest-in-charge of the St. Vincent Ferrer Mission Station in Barangay Cabawan, Tagbilaran City in 2025-2026.

His pastoral ministry spans nearly three decades and includes several key roles:
- Parochial Vicar*of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish (Calape, Bohol) from 1993 to 1997

- Parish Priest of Santa Monica Parish, Alburquerque from 1997 to 2001

- Engaged in foreign missions in Libya from 2001 to 2003

- Vicar Cooperatorin Our Lady of Martyrs Parish in New York from 2003 to 2005

- Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and Shrine in Pob. 2, Tagbilaran City from 2005 to 2009

- Parish Priest and Rector of Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Assumption in Dauis from 2009 to 2015

- Parish Priest and Rector of Holy Cross Parish and Diocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer in Maribojoc from 2015 to 2021.

Bishop-elect Gerardo S**o, Jr. is the eighth Bishop of Tagbilaran. He will be ordained Bishop on May 26, 2026 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Worker in Tagbilaran City.
