May all the lessons we have received during these days of prayer not end with the novena. Instead, may they continue to bear fruit in our lives as we follow the example of St. Ignatius of Loyola: seeking God in all things, discerning His holy will, and living always 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱. 🧡

Viva, San Ignacio de Loyola!

St. Ignatius of Loyola holds a special place in the Catholic Church as the founder of the Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits. Once a soldier seeking honor and worldly success, his life changed after he was seriously wounded in battle. During his recovery, he encountered Christ more deeply and gradually surrendered his ambitions to the service of God and the Church.

Among his greatest contributions is the Spiritual Exercises, a collection of prayers, meditations and guides for discernment. Through these exercises, St. Ignatius teaches the faithful to recognize God’s presence, understand the movements of the heart and make decisions according to God’s will. His spirituality encourages Christians to “find God in all things” and to become contemplatives in action - people whose prayer leads them to loving and generous service.

For the Catholic community of Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City, where the parish is dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola, the saint is more than a figure from Church history. He is a spiritual father and a continuing example of conversion, courage, prayer and commitment to mission.

Through his patronage, the people of Dampas are reminded that holiness is lived not only inside the church but also within families, workplaces, schools and the wider community. Like St. Ignatius, they are called to seek God in everyday life, discern what is good and offer their gifts in service to others.

As the faithful honor St. Ignatius of Loyola, may his example inspire the community of Dampas to remain united in faith, attentive to God’s will and committed to doing everything for the greater glory of God - Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

Fiesta Solemn Mass (July 31, 2026)
Theme: Burning With Love: Honoring His Presence Among Us

To honor Christ's presence among us is to first allow Him to dwell and work within our own hearts. As Msgr. Jingboy shared in his homily, St. Ignatius of Loyola did not begin his mission by condemning the weaknesses he saw in the Church or by complaining about what was wrong. Instead, through prayer and discernment, he allowed God to transform him first. Only then did he become an instrument of renewal, dedicating his life to educating others, forming missionaries, and leading souls closer to Christ.

His life reminds us that genuine reform always begins from within. It is easy to point out the faults of others, whether in the Church, in our families, in our communities, or in society. Yet the greater challenge is to ask God to purify our own hearts. As St. Ignatius teaches us, before we seek to change the world, we must first allow God to change us.

May our devotion to St. Ignatius inspire us to burn with a love that is rooted in Christ's presence. As we honor Him in this celebration, may we become living witnesses of that love by embracing prayer, discernment, and continual conversion. For a heart transformed by God becomes a light that helps transform the world.

Lord, teach us not to seek only the temporal blessings of this world. Help us to pray for the grace that changes our hearts. Give us a heart that loves You more each day, a love that reaches others with kindness, and the courage to follow Jesus with faith and joy.

Through the prayers of St. Ignatius, guide our steps today and always. Help us choose Christ above everything else, so that together we may walk toward the only treasure that will never fade. Amen.

9th Novena Mass (July 30, 2026)
Theme: Choosing to Stand with Christ: Over the Illusions of Wealth, Power, & Fame

In a world where wealth, power, and fame are often seen as the measure of success, today's homily invites us to seek something far greater. As Fr. Jun reminded us, many of us turn to the saints asking for material favors, yet we rarely ask for the grace that truly transforms our lives: a renewed heart, a changed way of living, and a deeper relationship with God.

We give thanks for the first Jesuit missionaries who brought the Christian faith to Bohol. In gratitude for their mission, St. Ignatius of Loyola was chosen as the patron of our parish in Dampas. His life reminds us that the greatest blessing is not found in what we gain from the world, but in allowing God to shape us into the people He calls us to be.

May we continue to seek the intercession of St. Ignatius, asking not only for temporal blessings but, above all, for spiritual blessings that endure. May we grow in faith, become better followers of Christ, and deepen our love for God and for one another. In choosing Christ above all else, we find the only treasure that truly lasts.
