BISU–Bilar Campus opened Intramurals 2025 with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at the Activity Center, bringing together faculty, students, and staff in unity and prayer. Presided by Fr. Gerald O. Lopena, the Mass highlighted the values of humility, teamwork, and fairness as guiding principles both in sports and in life. With the heartfelt participation of the choir, readers, and altar servers, the celebration reminded everyone that before the games begin, faith must take the lead. As competitions unfold, may the spirit of sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie shine throughout the week. Truly, Intramurals 2025 is not just about winning games but about celebrating faith, unity, and community.

Señor Santo Niño: A Guide for Students

Señor Santo Niño | Ang Batang Hesus, reminds us of the values of faith, humility, innocence, and trust in God. As a symbol of childlike simplicity and wonder, He encourages believers to live with hope and full dependence on God’s loving presence.

For us students, the Santo Niño serves as a source of inspiration to approach education with curiosity, dedication, and perseverance. His example reminds young minds to face challenges with courage, trust in their efforts, and remain faithful in their studies.

Beyond academics, He teaches the importance of kindness, respect, and compassion. By fostering a sense of community and support among peers, students can reflect His love and humility. Through prayer and devotion, the Santo Niño guides learners to seek wisdom not just for academic success but also to live lives that honor God and serve others.

Look | SCA BISU-Bilar solemnized the Rosary Moth in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

October is traditionally celebrated by the Catholic Church as the Month of the Holy Rosary, dedicated to honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. In observance of this, the Student Catholic Action (SCA) of Bohol Island State University - Bilar Unit organized the daily Rosary prayer every 6:35 am or 5:00 pm throughout the month at Happy-Happy Hills, BISU-Bilar Campus.

The Rosary prayers are open to all Catholic believers, encouraging the faithful to come together in prayer. By praying the Rosary, participants not only express their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary but also seek her intercession and protection. The Rosary has long been a powerful tool in Catholic tradition, believed to invoke Mary’s guidance and blessings, especially for the protection of the Church.

The act of commemorating the Rosary this month is a way of expressing gratitude for the spiritual protection and grace that Mary, through the Rosary, offers to the faithful and the Church as a whole.

The History of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary: A Catholic Perspective

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8th, honors the birth of Mary, mother of Jesus.

Mary's birth was not simply a natural event, but a divine intervention. God's grace, the free and undeserved gift of His love, shaped her life from the beginning.

The Catechism emphasizes that "the Virgin Mary was conceived without original sin" (CCC 490). This immaculate conception was a unique act of God's grace, preparing her to be a worthy vessel for the Son of God.

Mary's birth marked the beginning of her journey to become the Mother of God. Her life, filled with grace and obedience, foreshadowed the coming of the Messiah and the fulfillment of God's promises to humanity.

While the Bible doesn't detail Mary's birth, the Catholic Church, guided by tradition and faith, sees it as a pivotal moment in God's plan of salvation. The Church believes Mary was chosen by God, even before her conception, to be the mother of the Messiah. The Catechism states, "The Virgin Mary, 'the daughter of Zion,' was 'prepared' by the grace of God to become the Mother of the Savior" (CCC 488).

The celebration of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. It is a time to reflect on Mary's role in the history of salvation, her unique relationship with God, and her unwavering devotion to His will. This feast day also serves as a call to imitate Mary's virtues of humility, faith, and obedience in our own lives.
