PENTECOST SUNDAY | “Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Sharing the inspiring reflection of Rev. Fr. Wilfredo Borces, MSP on today’s celebration of Pentecost Sunday.

Pentecost marks the birthday of the Church because it is on this day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, transforming them from fearful followers into bold proclaimers of the Gospel. Before Pentecost, the disciples were hidden in fear after the crucifixion of Jesus. But when the Holy Spirit came upon them like a rushing wind and tongues of fire, everything changed. They were filled with courage, wisdom, and power to go out and preach Christ to all nations.

May the same Holy Spirit continue to guide, strengthen, and renew us in our faith journey.

SUMMER APOSTOLATE SEND-OFF RITES || Earlier today, the Discipleship Stage Year seminarians of the Mission Society of the Philippines Seminary were formally sent off for their summer apostolate in a rite presided over by their Director, Rev. Fr. Eladio Oliver, MSP. This year, nine seminarians are assigned to four apostolate areas: (1) Ako ang Saklay Center – Diocese of Cabanatuan, (2) Blessed Sacrament Parish – Archdiocese of Cebu, (3) MSP Promotion Office – Cebu, and (4) Diocese of Tandag. This month-long pastoral exposure aims to deepen their pastoral experience, strengthen community life, and enrich their missionary formation.

In his homily, Fr. Lads emphasized three important points: First, “Become a messenger.” He reminded the seminarians that true witness is not only preached through words but, more importantly, through actions. Second, “Learn and serve with humility.” As disciples and students, they are called to remain open to learning from the people and communities they will serve. Third, “Embrace the journey.” He encouraged them to see this apostolate as a significant milestone in their seminary life—one that should be treasured and remembered with gratitude and joy.

Let us continue to pray that the Lord may bless their good intentions and grant them the grace, strength, and wisdom they need as they carry out this missionary mandate.

MONTHLY RECOLLECTION || The MSP Seminary community expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Sr. Conception Tenorio, FMVD for facilitating this month’s recollection. In her sessions with the Configuration Year seminarians, Sr. Connie reflected on the example of Mary as an obedient disciple to her Son focusing on the Gospel narratives of the Annunciation and the Beloved Disciple at the foot of the cross.

May this recollection continue to deepen in us the grace of becoming obedient disciples of Jesus.

THANKSGIVING MASS || Rev. Fr. John Michael Cornel of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (Palawan) celebrated his Thanksgiving Mass earlier today at the MSP Seminary–Tagaytay. Fr. Mike was formerly a formandee of the MSP Seminary during his theological studies at the Divine Word Seminary Tagaytay.

The MSP Seminary joyfully gives thanks to God for the gift of the priesthood bestowed upon Fr. Mike. May we continue to keep him in our prayers as he begins his priestly ministry in Palawan.

LAUS DEO!

As part of the culmination of the Missionary Spirituality Formation Year (MSFY) Program in Cebu, four seminarians were invested today with the cassock and girded with the sash of the Mission Society of the Philippines. This marks their transition from Candidate Members to Affiliate Members of the MSP.

Let us pray that the Lord of the harvest blesses their desires and commitment to the charism and spirituality of the Mission Society of the Philippines that they may become Incorporate Members of the Society in the near future.

DISCIPLESHIP STAGE CLOSING RETREAT

The MSP Discipleship Stage had their Closing Retreat for the F.Y. 2025-2026, led by, Ms. Anna Crisha Nuestro. Ms. AC centered her talk on the words of Jesus: "Remain in my Love". The retreat was divided into three sessions as follows: Loved and Forgiven, Loved and Called, and Loved and Sent. She encouraged the seminarians to remain in love with Jesus and invited them to reflect that they are being loved, forgiven, called, and sent.
