Q148. How does Christ comfort his own in their sufferings?

A148. He says: Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you-for great is your reward in heaven.

"Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Wednesday devotion and prayer with the cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy.

May the Lord shape these future police officers into faithful followers of Christ—men and women who uphold justice, protect peace in our society, and reflect His character in both their service and their lives.

Q145. Should we love our enemies, also?
A145. Yes: Christ said, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father in heaven.

"But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."
Matthew 5:44-45 ESV

Q142. What did the Lord Jesus do to his disciples, after the supper?

A142. He washed their feet and said: If I, then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you."
