🪚✨ Sharpen the Saw

In the midst of our busy lives, it’s easy to keep serving, giving, and working without taking time to be renewed. Yet St. Mary teaches us a different way.

She listened to God’s voice, reflected on His works, and kept His words in her heart. Through a life rooted in prayer and communion with God, she found the strength to fulfill His purpose.

Just as a dull saw needs sharpening, our spiritual lives need regular renewal through prayer, Scripture, worship, and quiet reflection. When we remain close to Christ, He renews our strength, restores our peace, and equips us to continue serving with joy.

Habit 3 is about setting the right priorities and choosing where to invest our time and energy.

Mary chose to sit with Jesus, while Martha was distracted by being busy.

Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that “there is a time for everything” — a time to work, rest, listen, act, and simply be present.

And Matthew 6:33 gives us the ultimate priority: “Seek first His kingdom.”

So before asking, “What do I need to do?”
ask yourself: “What truly matters?”

You were never meant to do everything alone.

Synergy is more than a teamwork strategy.

It is a Christian way of life.

St. Mary shows us what it looks like to use our presence, prayers, love, and gifts to make the people around us stronger.

She didn't need to do everything herself.
She supported.
She encouraged.
She prayed.
She stayed present.

And that's the beauty of the Church:

Different people. Different gifts. One Body. One purpose.

Maybe the question isn't:

“How can I become more successful on my own?”

Maybe it's:

“How can what God gave me help someone else succeed?”

This week, try one simple thing:

🤍 Ask someone for help.
🤝 Encourage someone's gift.
🙏 Pray for someone.
✨ Give someone the support they need.

That's synergy. That's how we become stronger together.

🌿🙏 A beautiful day of learning, fellowship, and celebration as we gathered together in faith and joy.

📖 We began with our Sunday School at the Center, GMA, and St. Francis, where the children learned about The Theotokos and the Feasts of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Through the lesson, they learned more about the life of St. Mary and her place in the Church, reflecting on her humility, obedience, faith, and love for God.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We also held our Parents' Meeting at Calvary Hill, where we discussed Addressing Bullying in Parenting. The session focused on helping parents understand bullying, respond with wisdom and compassion, and create a safe and supportive environment where children can feel heard, protected, and loved.

🤍 Later, we gathered together to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of St. Mary. During the celebration, we reflected on the beautiful virtues of Mama Mary and how her life continues to serve as an example of faith, humility, obedience, purity, and complete trust in God.

📖 “For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.” — Luke 1:48

🙏 We thank God for the gift of St. Mary as an example of faithful service and for another wonderful day spent learning, celebrating, and growing together. May her virtues inspire us to live more faithfully and draw closer to Christ.

🌿📖 Blessed day of learning, reflection, and spiritual preparation.

We began with our Bible Study, continuing through Genesis chapters 46–50. We reflected on the final chapters of Joseph's story, his reunion with his family, the fulfillment of God's promises, and the importance of forgiveness, faithfulness, and trusting God's greater purpose even through difficult circumstances.

We also had an introduction to the Book of Exodus, chapters 1–2, beginning our journey into the story of God's people in Egypt, their struggles, and how God continued to work through their circumstances.

📚 During our Sunday School Preparation, we studied “The Theotokos in the Feasts of the Coptic Orthodox Church”, with reference to Luke 1:39–56. We reflected on the life of St. Mary and her place in the Church's celebrations, focusing on her humility, obedience, and joyful response to God's calling.

🤍 We concluded with our Servants Meeting, reflecting on Revelation 20:12 — “The books were opened.” The discussion focused on the final judgment and the importance of remembering that our lives, choices, and actions matter before God. It encouraged us to examine our hearts and live faithfully, knowing that we will ultimately give an account of our lives.

🙏 May God help us to learn from His Word, remain faithful in our service, and live each day with a heart prepared to meet Him.

Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is simply listen🤍.
St. Mary teaches us the beauty of a heart that notices, understands and responds with love.
Before we ask people to understand us, may we learn to understand them first.

Some of Saint Mary’s beautiful symbols remind us of who she was.
But perhaps the most beautiful symbol of Saint Mary is her “yes.”

Because faith doesn’t always mean having all the answers.
Sometimes it simply means saying:

“God, I don’t understand what You’re doing… but I trust You.”

So let this fast be more than changing what we eat.
Let it teach us to become a little more like her, more peaceful, humble, prayerful, pure, and willing to say yes to God.

Because maybe we’re not fasting only for Saint Mary…
Maybe we’re also fasting to learn from Saint Mary.
