Brokenness is something no one can escape. Whether through loss, failure, disappointment, unanswered prayers, or painful circumstances, every person will experience seasons that leave them feeling shattered.
Yet God allows itβnot because He delights in our pain or takes pleasure in our suffering, but because He desires to draw us closer to Himself.
When we become proud.
When we begin relying on our own strength and understanding.
When our hearts grow hard.
God, in His love, may allow circumstances that bring us to the end of ourselves so that we will call upon Him and abandon our dependence on our own abilities.
He loves us too much to leave us on a path that leads to destruction. Rather than watching us drift farther away, He willingly meets us in our suffering and works through it for our good.
The Lord has a greater purpose for our lives. That is why He is intentional and persistent in pursuing our hearts whenever we begin to wander.
He breaks what needs to be broken, prunes what needs to be pruned, and continually removes everything that keeps us from His will until whatβs left in us is a broken heart that is ready to surrender.
Through the painful process, He is not destroying usβHe is making us.
