Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of our Christian faith. This day brings us happiness because we celebrate the victory of life against death, light against darkness, and hope against despair. Christ's victory on the cross proves that love beats sin, offering new life to all who believe in Him.

This holy day teaches us that genuine happiness arises from faith, renewal, and the assurance of eternal life. We can honor the risen Lord by living with hope, sharing His love, and letting the power of His Resurrection transform our daily lives.

Holy Saturday | April 4, 2026

Holy Saturday invites us into a moment of stillness and waiting. After the suffering and death of Christ, the world falls silent as He rests in the tomb. It is a day marked not by celebration, but by quiet reflection and hope.

In this sacred pause, we are reminded of the darkness that came before the dawn. Though sorrow lingers, we hold on to the promise that death is not the end. God is still at work, even in the silence.

As we keep vigil in faith, may we learn to trust in Godโ€™s timing. May this day prepare our hearts to welcome the light of the Resurrection with renewed hope and deeper faith.

Today, we enter into the most solemn and sacred day of our entire faith: Good Friday. It is the day the Church commemorates the Passion and Death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a day of obligatory fasting and abstinence, marked by a profound and prayerful silence.

What happens in the church on this holy day? You'll notice immediately that the liturgy is unlike any other. Good Friday is the only day of the entire year on which the Holy Mass is not celebrated. Instead, we gather in the afternoon (traditionally around 3:00 PM) for the Celebration of the Lord's Passion.

The service begins in stark, dramatic silence, with the priest prostrating himself before the bare altar as a sign of total humility and grief. The liturgy has three main parts:

1. The Liturgy of the Word: We listen to the heart-wrenching prophecy of the Suffering Servant from Isaiah and then stand for the solemn proclamation of the Passion narrative from the Gospel of St. John. This is followed by the Solemn Intercessions, where we lift up the needs of the entire world to the throne of God's mercy.

2. The Adoration of the Cross: A crucifix is brought forward and presented to the people. We are invited to come forward and venerate this "wood of the Cross, on which hung the salvation of the world." It is a powerful, personal moment to kiss the instrument of our redemption and thank Jesus for His incredible love.

3. Holy Communion: The altar is covered, and the Eucharist that was consecrated on Holy Thursday is distributed to the faithful.
After Communion, the liturgy concludes with a final prayer, and everyone departs in absolute silence. The great, continuous liturgy of the Triduum has not ended; it has simply paused.

We leave the church today as if leaving Calvary, keeping a prayerful watch at the Lord's tomb, our hearts waiting in the stillness for the glory of the Resurrection.

The sacred Paschal Triduum begins on Holy Thursday which commemorates Jesus Christ's Last Supper with His disciples. This day requires us to study His infinite love which He demonstrated through three gifts: the Holy Eucharist, the establishment of priesthood, and His act of washing His disciples' feet.

Holy Thursday teaches us that authentic love expresses itself through service, sacrifice, and selfless dedication. At His last meal with His disciples, Jesus taught them about humble love, which involves us maintaining a prayerful bond with Him while embracing His Passion.

On this Spy Wednesday, we are reminded that behind every act of secrecy lies a deeper story. Rooted in the events leading to the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot.

In a world where it is easy to hide behind masks and blend into the crowd, Spy Wednesday challenges us to confront the truth of who we are when no one is watching.

As students take part in this day, may we see the disguises and remember the greater meaning it carries. Let it be a reminder that our actions, seen or unseen, shape who we become.

HOLY MONDAY PRAYER

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that, though in our weakness we fail, we may be revived through the Passion of your Only Begotten Son. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. AMEN.

As we begin this Holy Monday of Holy Week, we are invited to enter more deeply into the mystery of Godโ€™s love revealed through the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is not just a prayer for the start of the day, but a reminder that even in our weakness, Godโ€™s grace continues to sustain and renew us.

The week that changed the world continues to change our lives in ways both quiet and profound. Holy Week is not only a remembrance of events that happened long ago; it is a living encounter with the saving love of Christ. It draws us into reflection, calling us to slow down, to listen, and to open our hearts to Godโ€™s transforming presence.

In our human weakness, we often fall shortโ€”through sin, doubt, fear, or exhaustion. Yet this prayer reminds us that our hope is not rooted in our own strength, but in the Passion of Christ. Through His suffering, we are revived. Through His sacrifice, we are restored. Through His love, we are made new.

Holy Week invites us to walk with Jesus step by step: to journey from His entry into Jerusalem, to the tension and trials that follow, and ultimately to the Cross where love is fully revealed. In this journey, we are not passive observersโ€”we are participants. Our lives, our choices, and our faith are all drawn into His story of redemption.

As we continue this sacred week, may we allow God to soften our hearts and strengthen our spirits. May we learn to forgive more freely, to love more deeply, and to trust more fully in His divine will. Even in moments of silence and sorrow, God is at work, shaping us through grace.

And so we pray with confidence: that though we are weak, we may be revived through Christ, and that this Holy Monday may become a step closer to renewal, healing, and hope.

Palm Sunday of the Lordโ€™s Passion | March 29, 2026

Palm Sunday opens the celebration of Holy Week. We remember the Lordโ€™s entrance into Jerusalem, welcomed with palm branches and cries of Hosanna. In this sacred moment, joy and reverence meet as we honor the coming of our King.

Yet the liturgy also leads us into the account of His Passion. The One who is praised today will embrace the Cross in love and obedience. We are invited to follow Him with sincere hearts, not only in moments of celebration but also in sacrifice.

As we raise our palms, may we welcome Christ into our lives more deeply. May this day strengthen our faith and prepare us to walk with Him through His Passion and into the hope of the Resurrection.

WHAT DO WE REMEMBER ON THE DAYS
OF THE HOLY WEEK

Holy Week is the most sacred time in the Christian calendar, especially for Catholics, because it invites us to remember, reflect on, and spiritually participate in the final days of the life of Jesus Christ. Each day is not just a historical remembrance, but a living encounter with His love, sacrifice, and victory.

It begins with Palm Sunday, when we remember Jesusโ€™ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The people welcomed Him with palm branches, proclaiming Him as King. Yet, this joyful moment also foreshadows how quickly human hearts can changeโ€”from praise to rejection. It reminds us to examine the sincerity and steadfastness of our own faith.

On Holy Monday and Holy Tuesday, the Church reflects on Jesusโ€™ teachings and actions before His Passion. These days highlight His authority, His call to conversion, and His confrontation with hypocrisy. They remind us to cleanse our hearts and renew our commitment to truth and righteousness.

Spy Wednesday marks the betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot. It is a sobering reminder of the reality of sin and betrayalโ€”not only in history but in our own lives. It calls us to repentance and vigilance, urging us not to trade our relationship with Christ for worldly gain.

The celebration deepens on Maundy Thursday, when we commemorate the Last Supper. On this night, Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, giving us His Body and Blood as a perpetual sign of His presence. He also washed the feet of His disciples, teaching us humility, service, and selfless love.

Good Friday is the solemn remembrance of the Passion and death of Jesus on the Cross. It is a day of silence, sacrifice, and deep gratitude. Here, we witness the fullness of Christโ€™s loveโ€”a love willing to suffer and die for the salvation of humanity. The Cross, once a symbol of shame, becomes the ultimate sign of hope and redemption.

Black Saturday is a day of waiting and quiet hope. The Church reflects on the time Jesus lay in the tomb, reminding us that even in darkness and silence, God is at work.

Finally, Holy Week leads to the joy of Easter, where sorrow is transformed into victory. Through these sacred days, we do not just remember eventsโ€”we are invited to enter into the mystery of Christโ€™s Passion, Death, and Resurrection, allowing it to renew and transform our lives.

Fifth Sunday of Lent | March 22, 2026

The Fifth Sunday of Lent, also known as Passion Sunday, brings us closer to Holy Week. The Church invites us to reflect more deeply on the suffering and sacrifice of Christ. We are called to turn away from sin and open our hearts to Godโ€™s mercy.

On this day, crosses and images may be covered, reminding us of the hidden glory of Christ as He prepares for His Passion. As Lent nears its end, we are called to be still, examine our lives, and trust in God who makes all things new.

LET US ASK THE LORD FOR A HUMBLE HEART | โ€œJesus tells us about two men who go to the temple to pray.

The first man is a Pharisee. He stands proudly and begins to pray: โ€œLord, I thank you that I am not like other people.โ€

Then he lists his good deeds. He fasts. He gives tithes. He follows the rules.

On the outside, he seems like a very religious man. But there is one thing missing in his prayerโ€”humility.

The second man is a tax collector. In the time of Jesus, tax collectors were considered sinners. People looked down on them.

This man stands far away. He does not even dare to lift his eyes to heaven. He simply beats his breast and says: โ€œO God, be merciful to me, a sinner.โ€

And Jesus tells us that this manโ€”the tax collectorโ€”goes home justified before God.

Why? Because God listens not to the proud heart, but to the humble heart.

My dear friends, this Gospel is very appropriate during this season of Lent.

During Lent we pray more, we fast, we make sacrifices. But Lent is not about proving that we are better than others.

Lent is about recognizing that we need Godโ€™s mercy.

The tax collector shows us the true spirit of Lent. He does not pretend to be perfect. He simply stands before God as he isโ€”a sinner who needs mercy.

And that kind of prayer always touches the heart of God.

That is why Lent is also a good time to go to Confession. When we humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness, God always welcomes us and gives us a new beginning.

And so Jesus reminds us today: โ€œWhoever exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.โ€

During this Lenten season, let us ask the Lord for a humble heartโ€”
a heart that trusts not in its own goodness, but in the mercy of God.โ€
