โ€œRevertere ad me: Come back to Me.โ€
Last February 27, 2026 at 8:00 PM, the Redemptorist Youth Ministry prayerfully took part in the Youth Penitential Walk, an activity of the Vicariate of Tacloban, around the community of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, V&G Subd., meditating on the Stations of the Cross.

With every step, we were reminded of Christโ€™s call to return to Him in repentance, in faith, and in love. With candles burning like the faith in our hearts, our youth showed the beauty of togetherness of our community, in prayer.

On February 1, 2025, the Redemptorist Youth Ministry gathered at the St. Gerard Pastoral Center and held the first Bible Sharing for this year 2026, where hearts were opened and stories were shared.

Guided by Luke 6:35โ€“36, each participant reflected on personal experiences of loving without expecting in return and choosing mercy in everyday life. It was a grace-filled moment of listening, sharing, and growing together in faith.

On January 25, 2026, the Redemptorist Youth Ministryโ€“Tacloban joyfully held its first BEC Youth Mass at Brgy. Aslum, Tacloban City, presided over by Rev. Fr. Rey Julo Biliran, C.Ss.R. Gathered in faith and fellowship, the community came together to celebrate the Eucharist and renew our commitment to serve God and one another.

After the Mass, a brief youth gathering and recruitment followed, inviting young people to take part in the different ministries under RYM, including the Knights of the Altar, Alphonsian Youth Choir, and the Redemptorist Media Ministry.

May this meaningful beginning inspire more young hearts to serve and grow together as one Church.

Legazpi City, January 26, 2026 โ€“ From January 9โ€“11, 2026, four representatives of Redemptorist Youth Ministryโ€“Taclobanโ€”Rev. Fr. Rey Julo Biliran, C.Ss.R., Janelle Peca, Villerey Rivera, and Ivan Taboyโ€”gratefully carried the Alphonsian Youth Gathering (AYG) Cross as it was passed on to RYMโ€“Legazpi, marking another meaningful chapter in the AYG pilgrimage journey.

The mission began on the evening of January 9 with a warm and heartfelt welcome from the RYMโ€“Legazpi community, setting an exciting tone for the days ahead.

On the second day, selected RYMโ€“Legazpi members guided the Tacloban delegates on a city tour of Legazpi, showcasing the beauty and culture of the city. One of the highlights was an ATV Ride at the foot of Mt. Mayon, a fun-filled experience that strengthened friendships and created joyful memories among the youth.

In the afternoon, the journey reached its spiritual peak with the Turnover Mass of the AYG Cross, a solemn yet hope-filled moment symbolizing the passing of faith, mission, and responsibility to the next community. The day concluded with a youth fellowship, where laughter, games, and shared stories deepened bonds among the participants. Thoughtful tokens and gifts were also exchanged, reflecting the gratitude and spirit of communion that defined the entire journey.

This experience truly highlighted the beauty of unity, faith, and shared bonds within the Church, especially among the youth, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Continuing the journey of the AYG Pilgrim Cross in Legazpi City, Janelle Peca shares how her growth in the Redemptorist Youth Ministry connects deeply with the meaning of the Pilgrim Cross and this yearโ€™s AYG theme.

Sharing by Janelle Peca

โ€œGrowth begins at the edge of our comfort zone.โ€
This quote captures my journey as a member of the Redemptorist Youth Ministry. When I first joined the RYM, I stayed well within my comfort zone. I began as a member of the Lectors and Commentators, quietly serving but remaining distant. For a long time, I was an inactive memberโ€”not because I lacked love for the ministry, but because I was shy and unsure. I thought I would struggle to socialize and that I would not truly belong among the other RYM members who seemed more outgoing than me.
Yet, God gently calls us beyond where we are comfortable. Slowly, I began stepping forwardโ€”joining fellowship nights, helping in activities, and even hosting some events. These small โ€œyesesโ€ became turning points. In serving, I found joy; in leading, I found purpose. This journey led me to become part of the youth leaders, and today, I am blessed to serve as the head of the Human Committee in Redemptorist Tacloban while also being a part of the Lectors and the Redemptorist Media Ministry. Through the RYM, I realized that leadership is not about confidence alone, but about allowing God to work through our willingness.

The RYM taught me the value of togetherness and genuine friendship. What started in Tacloban grew into connections with fellow youth from different parts of the Philippinesโ€”connections I now experience even here in Legazpi. Being part of this wider Redemptorist youth family made me feel that wherever faith is shared, home is found.

This journey also brought me to places I never imagined I would go. I was able to travel, to attend meaningful formations like the Youth Encounter Seminar Workshop in Cebu, and now to witness and participate in the passing of the Alphonsian Youth Gathering Pilgrim Cross here in Legazpi. The Pilgrim Cross is a powerful reminder of our missionโ€”it calls us to carry Christ beyond ourselves, to places unknown, and to people we have yet to meet.
In many ways, the Pilgrim Cross mirrors my own journey in the RYM. As a youth, I was first empoweredโ€”by community, friendship, and faithโ€”and then sentโ€”to serve and to lead. This is what this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œYouth. Empowered. Sent.โ€, truly means to me. We are empowered not because we are perfect, but because God chooses to work through our fears and limitations. And we are sent not only to go far, but to go deeper in love, and in faith.

Looking back, I am grateful that I dared to step beyond my comfort zone. โ€œGrowth begins at the edge of our comfort zone.โ€ The Redemptorist Youth Ministry taught me that when we allow ourselves to be empowered by God and by community, we are always sent to become more than who we once were. To those who feel shy, uncertain, or afraidโ€”this ministry is for you. Take that step. Carry the Cross. Allow yourself to be empowered and be sent to touch the lives of others. May this sharing inspire us all to join and continue being members the RYM.

As part of the delegates who brought the AYG Cross to Legazpi City on January 9 - 11, 2026, Ivan Taboy shares his reflection on how the journey unfolded into moments of hospitality, adventure, and inspiration from the local youth.

Reflection by Ivan Taboy

My trip from Tacloban City to Legazpi City became more than just a travelโ€”it turned into a journey of connection, inspiration, and faith. At first, I felt excited, curious, and a little unsure about what to expect. But when I arrived, the young people of Legazpi welcomed me warmly, and right away I felt at home. Their talents amazed me, but what touched me more was their humility, kindness, and care for others. I didnโ€™t expect to meet so many young people who were passionate, gifted, and full of life. Because of them, my trip became more meaningful and truly unforgettable.

This experience reminded me of Jesus, who was both a friend and a teacher to His followers. I felt as if Jesus was walking with me from Tacloban to Legazpi, guiding my steps and blessing every moment, just like He did with His disciples. Through the friendships I formed, I saw Christโ€™s love in their actions, encouragement, and unity. My time in Legazpi became a spiritual journeyโ€”one that strengthened my faith, inspired my heart, and helped me understand what true friendship really means. I realized that when Christ is at the center of our relationships, friendship becomes a source of hope, strength, and inspiration. Because of the youth and the friendships I found, my experience in Legazpi will always be a beautiful and meaningful part of my life.

With grateful and hopeful hearts, we gathered for the Send-Off Mass of the AYG Pilgrim Cross during the 5:30 PM Mass on January 7, presided by Rev. Fr. Chloe Que, C.Ss.R.

As the Cross prepares to journey to Legazpi on January 9, may it carry with it our prayers and commitment to walk together in faith, and mission as one youth in Christ in line with the theme: Youth Empowered Sent.

HAPPY NATIONAL YOUTH DAY!! ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿซถ

Today, as we celebrated the first Misa de Gallo marks the day dedicated for our youth. We celebrate their contributions to the church, their energy, vibes, and creativity helps the church connect to people more, enabling unique ways to encouter God.

After the mass, the young and young adults were gathered for a blessing and was followed by an animation performed by the youth volunteers.

May we pray that the young people in this generation be eager to know the church more and apply Christโ€™s good deeds and teachings as they walk with him in joy and courage. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿซ‚

With hearts full of faith and gratitude, the Redemptorist Youth Ministry (RYM)โ€“Tacloban community humbly received the National Youth Cross from our brothers and sisters from RYMโ€“Davao during the 4:00 PM Eucharistic Celebrations on December 14, 2025, presided by Rev. Fr. Rey Julo Biliran, C.Ss.R.

May this Cross continue to be a powerful symbol of hope and of our shared mission as Redemptorist youth, calling us to carry Christโ€™s love wherever we are sent. This cross will serve as a reminder and an inspiration for us to continuously say โ€œyesโ€ to Godโ€™s call like how Mary said โ€œyesโ€ to her mission despite her youth.
