As May comes to an end, the Minor Basilica and Parish of St. Martin of Tours invites everyone to join us in prayer and unity for the grand celebration of Flores de Mayo this Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Flores de Mayo is a beautiful tradition where we show our love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a community, let us come together to offer her our prayers, our flowers, and our hearts.

Ika-6 ng Mayo taong 2026, naganap ngayong araw ang isang ekskursyon o “Team Building” at “Summer Outing” sa Camp Pulong Gubat sa Cuenca, Batangas na dinaluhan ng mga kabataan sa ating Parokya mula sa grupo ng Himig San Martin, Bolbok Youth Choir, at Committee on Altar Servers. Pinangunahan ito ng Ministry on Liturgy at Ministry for the Youth - Taal bilang inisyatibo upang higit na maghubog at lumikha ng mas masaya, nagkakaisa, at nakikipagkapwang mga kabataang naglilingkod sa ating simbahan at komunidad.

Taos pusong pasasalamat sa ating rektor at kura paroko na si Reb. Pd. Bernard A. Aguila, at mga kasamahang pari na sina Reb. Pd. Jessie A. Pentinio at Reb. Pd. Jose Carlos C. Coronel sa lubos na pagmamahal upang maikasatuparan ang gawaing ito.

On Easter, the Church proclaims the victory of Christ over sin and death. Rising from the tomb, He fulfills the promise of salvation and opens for us the way to new life.

The Resurrection is not only a moment in history, but a living reality—Christ is alive, and His light conquers every darkness. In Him, hope is restored, mercy is renewed, and life is made new.

May the joy of the Risen Lord fill our hearts and strengthen our faith today and always. Alleluia!

TODAY IS A DAY OF FASTING AND ABSTINENCE ✝️

Today, Feb. 18 (Ash Wednesday), the faithful are bound to observe both fasting and abstinence in communion with the whole Church. This discipline is not merely devotional—it is an act of obedience expressed through the Church’s authority to bind and loose.

Abstinence from meat binds those who have completed 14 years. Fasting binds those 18 to 59 years old. Fasting consists of one full meal, with two smaller meals that together do not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, though water and medicine may be taken.

These practices are not burdens but medicine for the soul. Through fasting and abstinence, we unite ourselves more closely to Christ and to the whole Body of the Church, offering our sacrifice in prayer and solidarity with those who suffer.

FEBRUARY 11 | MEMORIAL OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
(World Day of the Sick)

The Church celebrates the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes today, marking the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1858 to fourteen-year-old Marie Bernade (St. Bernadette) Soubirous. Between February 11 and July 16, 1858, the Blessed Virgin appeared eighteen times, and showed herself to St. Bernadette in the hollow of the rock at Lourdes. On March 25 she said to the little shepherdess who was only fourteen years of age: "I am the Immaculate Conception." Since then Lourdes has become a place of pilgrimage and many cures and conversions have taken place. The message of Lourdes is a call to personal conversion, prayer, and charity.

St. John Paul II designated 11 February as World Day of the Sick, “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the Church, and of reminding us to see in our sick brother and sister the face of Christ who, by suffering, dying and rising, achieved the salvation of humankind.“ (Letter Instituting the World Day of the Sick, 13 May 1992, 3).

PRAYER:
O most Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes, you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favors, and where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother, obtain my request. I will try to imitate your virtues so that I may one day share your company and bless you in eternity. Amen.
