On August 1, 2026, at Owelant Hall, San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral, the Diocesan Youth Leaders of the Diocese of Surigao gathered for the Kwentuhang Bayan Facilitators’ Training and Seminar in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2026.

The training, facilitated by Michael John Pacot, featured the Kwentuhang Bayan Manual developed by the Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB). The session equipped participants with essential knowledge, insights, and facilitation tools to foster meaningful conversations and promote responsible, informed, and engaged citizenship among young voters.

The gathering also serves as a preparatory formation for the upcoming re-echo sessions to be conducted in the different Diocesan Vicariates, focusing on Young Catholic Voters’ Awareness, Consciousness, and Education.

Through this initiative, the Diocese of Surigao continues to empower its young people to become informed, responsible, and active participants in the democratic process, guided by the values of faith, truth, and the common good.

The Diocesan Youth Ministry through the Diocesan Youth Council – Diocese of Surigao warmly invites all interested active Youth to prayerfully discern and begin their journey to the 41st International World Youth Day in Seoul, South Korea.

If you believe God may be calling you to this once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage, we encourage you to take the first step by joining our diocesan delegation.

📌 Pre-Registration

🗓️ Deadline of Pre-Registration: August 15, 2026 Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Only those who complete the pre-registration within the prescribed period will proceed to the next phase of the application process.

📌 Pilgrimage Requirements
✔️ Attend the delegation orientation (schedule to be announced)
✔️ Secure an endorsement from your Parish Priest
✔️ Be at least 21 years old (preferably a college graduate)
✔️ Have a passport valid until January 2028
✔️ Be eligible to obtain a South Korea visa
✔️ Be financially capable of covering pilgrimage expenses
✔️ Commit to participating in all formation activities and follow the diocesan pilgrimage guidelines before, during, and after WYD

📋 Diocesan Screening Process
The screening will include:
🔹 Verification of the required application forms and supporting documents
🔹 Endorsement from the Parish Priest or Youth Director
🔹 Assessment of active participation in the Parish, Vicariate, School, Campus, Youth Ministry or any other Religious Organization
🔹 Personal interview and discernment of the applicant's readiness to represent the Diocese of Surigao
🔹 Commitment to attend all formation activities and preparations leading to WYD Seoul 2027
