With grateful hearts, the South Dinagat District joyfully welcomes our newly installed District Pastor, Ptr. Jean Clyde P. Arellano. We thank God for His guidance and for sending us a servant-leader with a heart to shepherd, teach, and lead the flock according to His will. May the Lord grant you wisdom, strength, and grace as you begin this new chapter of ministry among us.

At the same time, we extend our deepest appreciation and sincere farewell to our outgoing District Pastor, Ptr. Harry Lyod A. Duma-o. Thank you for your faithful service, steadfast leadership, and loving care for the district. Your labor in the Lord has left a lasting impact, and we pray God’s richest blessings upon you and your family as you move forward to the next assignment He has prepared.

As one body in Christ, we remain united—trusting God’s perfect timing and purpose. “The Lord will guide you always” (Isaiah 58:11). May we continue to walk by faith, serve with love, and glorify God in all that we do. To Him be all the honor and praise!

Does “Padugo” Invite Evil Spirits?

Many Filipinos still practice padugo before building a house, bridge, or building. It involves spilling the blood of an animal, usually a chicken or pig, on the ground, believing it will bring safety or good luck. But the Catholic Church teaches that this ritual is not of God and can actually invite evil spirits instead of blessings.

The roots of padugo come from ancient pagan beliefs before Christianity arrived in the Philippines. Our ancestors offered blood to unseen spirits of the land to avoid harm. But the Bible reminds us that there is only one true God (Deuteronomy 6:13-14) and that we must never offer sacrifices to spirits or false gods (1 Corinthians 10:20).

When people perform padugo, they unknowingly open the door to demonic presence. This is why some places such as bridges, houses, or buildings where padugo was done become haunted or have ghost sightings. What they think will protect them actually invites darkness.

True protection comes not from blood sacrifices but from God’s blessing. Catholics are encouraged to ask a priest to bless their home or project instead. The only blood that saves and protects is the Blood of Jesus Christ, who conquered evil once and for all.

Padugo does not bring safety. It invites spirits. Choose faith over fear and invite God, not the devil.

🌿 “The Secret Anointing” 🌿

When Samuel poured the oil on David’s head,
no trumpets sounded, no crowd bowed low.
It was just a boy, forgotten in the fields, and a whisper from Heaven saying, “You are chosen.”

The anointing was secret, but the evidence could not stay hidden. The same hands that played for sheep would soon play before kings. The same faith that fought lions and bears would bring down Goliath with one stone and a steady heart.

You don’t need everyone to see your calling.
You don’t need the world’s applause to prove you’re chosen.

When God marks you, His favor will find you —
in the palace or the pasture, in the silence or the storm.

For when the time is right,
the oil that was poured in secret
will speak loudly through your life. ✨

🎺A Call to Return to God🎺

When the earth trembles and fear fills the air, let us not give in to panic but to prayer. These are not times to run in terror but times to kneel in repentance. Instead of worrying about the next earthquake or calamity, let us return to God, the One who holds the universe in His hands. Bow your knees before Him in fervent prayer, and ask for His mercy and forgiveness.

This generation has grown proud, declaring that we have no sin. But the Lord sees our hearts. He knows how far we have wandered from Him. Yet His grace still calls:
“Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty. — Malachi 3:7

Remember S***m and Gomorrah—cities that could have been spared if only ten righteous people were found. Righteousness does not mean perfection; it means believing in God and repenting of sin with a humble heart.

It is not too late. Now is the time to humble ourselves before the Lord our God. Pray for forgiveness. Turn away from pride and return to the One who heals, restores, and saves.

May God hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and protect us from the calamities around us. 🙏🙏🙏

The maker of our body knows which foods are good for our health. He instructed us about clean and unclean foods for a human body in Leviticus 11 and warned about gluttony. Asian bodies are no different from the Hebrew bodies. We cannot say these instructions about food is just for the Jews. It is for all humans created by God.

We cannot blame God if we suffer from hypertension and heart attacks because we are informed and well aware about the cons of eating such foods with gluttony.

Philippians 3:19: This verse addresses those who prioritize their physical appetites over their spiritual lives. It states, "Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.”

May we find it in our hearts to take heed on God’s instructions. Have a blessed day!
