The Prophets are alive! Another narration with a different chain of narrators states that the Prophet ﷺ passed through the valley of Azraq and asked:
“Which valley is this?” They replied: “This is the valley of Azraq.” He ﷺ then observed and said: “𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂̄𝘀𝗮̄ 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮̄𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆 (saying: Here I am! At Your service!).”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 166a]
Prophet Mūsā, peace be upon him, has been seen in multiple places, establishing that the prophets are free to go wherever they wish (spiritually) even after their veiling from the world. It has been proven that the Prophet ﷺ led the prayer as the Imām before all the Prophets during Isrāʾ – this is a Mutawātir Ḥadīth – and all of them had passed from this worldly life.
A few important incidents from this are the fact that even though Nabī Mūsā left this world, he was still seen: praying in his grave; when he met the Prophet ﷺ to request him to reduce the amount of prayers; when he met the Prophet ﷺ in the sixth heaven; and when the Prophet ﷺ led all the prophets in prayer, including Sayyidunā Mūsā, peace be upon him.
Then yet again as mentioned in the narrations that he was even seen again in the valley of Azraq and Masjid al-Khayf by the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
From all these narrations, it is evident how Prophet Mūsā is seen in many places, which establishes the fact that all the prophets are free to travel anywhere they wish, by the Will of Allāh, granting them this ability. This shows us that the Anbiyāʾ are in such a state where they are alive and aware of what is happening, and that the beloved Prophet ﷺ still has a connection with his Ummah. From these we can also conclude that the Prophet ﷺ is alive in his blessed grave aswell as all the other prophets similarly to how Mūsā, peace be upon him, was seen praying in his grave.
This is proof of just a glimpse of the capabilities that have been given to the beloved prophets after their passing by Allāh Almighty. As he saw and met Nabī Mūsā six times in six different places, this is sufficient for anyone with understanding to know that the prophets are alive, aware and can go anywhere with their blessed souls. If this is the state of the previous prophets, how can one negate this for the Imām and leader of all prophets and all the people?
"And ask those of our messengers whom we sent before you; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?"
[Holy Qurʾān, 43:45]
This is stated to the Prophet ﷺ and it is clear that the previous Anbiyāʾ and Rusul are all alive, aware, and in a state where they are still able to communicate and listen to the beloved Prophet ﷺ. As Allāh Himself states to the Prophet ﷺ to go and ask the Prophets and Messengers who have been sent before. Thus, this also proves these abilities for our beloved Prophet ﷺ after his veiling from the world.
