we begin Passiontide, a sacred period that bridges our Lenten observances and the powerful culmination of Holy Week. This is a time to intentionally draw closer to the mystery of Christ's suffering and death, to reflect on its significance for our salvation, and to prepare our spirits to enter into the most holy days of our faith. May we journey through Passiontide with open hearts and a deep yearning to understand the love that compelled such sacrifice.

𝗗𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗢 𝗣𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧
“Punit” is an Iloco term that means “to cover or to close.”

It follows the tradition of veiling crucifixes and statues in the church with unadorned black or violet cloths during the last two weeks of lent or the Passionatide beginning from the Saturday before the 5th Sunday of Lent. All other images except those that shows the Passion of our Lord such as the Stations of the Cross are veiled.

Crosses remain covered until the end of the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday, but images remain covered until the beginning of the Easter Vigil.

This practice serves as a stark reminder for us to focus solely on the Passion of the Lord during the final week of Lent. Without the Paschal Mystery, none of the images are possible nor do they have any meaning.

Let’s be honest: our "internal storage" is full. Between the burnout, the social media filters, and the constant pressure to perform, our souls are lagging. We’re running on low battery, and the "blue light" of the world is exhausting our minds.

This Lent, we invite you to step away from the shadows and return to the still waters. For our Lenten Youth Camp's 3rd year, we are diving deep into the "Interior Mission" called for by Pope Leo XIV, creating a space where faith meets the reality of our daily struggles as we ponder on our general theme: “𝙃𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡.” — 𝙋𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙢 23:3

Join us for three days of encounter, fellowship, and grace. Don’t walk the valley alone. Tag a friend you want to bring with you! It is time to stop surviving and start being restored. Remember: "It is not us who will be glorified, but God."

In the month of March, we honor St. Joseph, the Most Chaste Spouse of Mary and Patron of the Universal Church.

In this season of Lent, let us look to Joseph as our model of quiet strength, faithful stewardship, and fatherly protection. He was the guardian of the two greatest treasures of Heaven: Jesus and Mary. He didn’t seek his own glory, but lived entirely for the glory of God—echoing our own parish mission: "It is not us who will be glorified, but God."

Whether we are cleaning our church, serving the poor through our Opus Misericordiae drive, or deepening our understanding of our Diocese, let us do it all with the heart of Joseph—seeking not our own glory, but the glory of God.

Whether you are a father, a worker, a student, or a seeker, St. Joseph is your powerful intercessor. In times of doubt, go to Joseph. In times of financial need, go to Joseph. In times of anxiety, go to Joseph.

Our Lenten journey continues with Opus Misericordiae, a parish-wide effort to be the hands and feet of Christ. From February 22 to April 5, the PYM Sudipen, La Union - Holy Family Parish is inviting you to practice the Corporal Works of Mercy by supporting:
