Happy Father's, Day!

NLM is blessed to have dedicated, supportive, hardworking fathers. They are the kind of tatay that you would love to talk to for life lessons, advice, and even dad jokes!

We are celebrating this special day with grateful hearts.

Shena and John stood up in front to receive their papa's gift.

Kuya W***y Piclit Aboli, you are remembered at church today.
(We actually bought the gifts couple of months early and we intended to give him also because of his support in our church building project.)

Greetings also to those na hindi namin nakasama sa church kanina.. Again, Happy Father's Day, to our tatays. God bless you.

More than celebrating our national freedom, we celebrate the liberty that God has given us. We honor our heroes who gave their lives for the independence of our country but only one man was able to free the world from the power and penalty of sin- the man Jesus. Belated happy Independence Day!

Galatians 5:1 KJV
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us
free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

JUST A THOUGHT

Genesis 7:17 NKJV
Now the flood was on the earth forty days.
The waters increased and lifted up the ark,
and it rose high above the earth.

Sometimes life’s problem comes to us like a flood, and we just feel like we’re drowning. But God is our ARK. When we come to Him for refuge, the water that’s supposed to destroy will lift us up into His divine presence, causing us to trust in our God, and to discover His mighty works that are yet to be discovered.

Thanks for preaching to us Rev. Aaron Lusung, we were inspired and challenged by the message, "COMMITTED." How I wish those who were absent were there with us too to hear the message.

JUST A THOUGHT

Exodus 1:8-11 New Living Translation

8 Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done.
9 He said to his people, "Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are.
10 We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don't, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.*"
11 So the Egyptians made the Israelites their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with crushing labor…

Christian life is full of challenges. The more you want to grow and serve, the more the obstacles arise. This is because the enemy is doing his best to keep us from growing. He fears that when we grow strong, we will be able to exercise power over him.

He is enslaving us through addiction and constant desire for worldly pleasure and material things. He is oppressing us through evil men causing us problems. Sometimes through physical sickness, emotional and spiritual fatigue, hoping that we will give up and quit. But the truth behind his strategy is that he fears the apostolic people of God. The Apostle Paul encourages us:

Ephesians 6:10 KJV
“…be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

JUST A THOUGHT

Psalms 34:8
"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

In the verse above, the phrase “the Lord is good” is a fixed statement. He is good even when we are sad, sick, abused, abandoned, perplexed, persecuted, despised or depressed. No matter how we feel, the Lord is good. No matter where we are in life, the Lord is good. His goodness is not confirmed by our victory, neither is it cancelled by our tragedy. It is a plain biblical truth- the Lord is good.

God did not provide everything we needed all at once. We prayed, took a leap of faith, started with the little construction money we had raised from our little church. No "bigtime" sponsor, no major benefactor. Just started with all the little help and big hearts coming from the humble congregation.

We had prayed and hoped. But God did not multiply the small funds we had like the two fish and five loaves of bread.

What He promised was what is written in the book of Matthew chapter six as the Lord's Prayer. Just as God has provided manna to the Israelites daily in the wilderness, He showed us and taught us to depend on Him daily.

EVERY TIME the last construction money would be spent, and we thought of having to pause the work, God gives another batch of blessing to continue on. What we are constructing is not a big church. It actually would just sit about 50 people. But we are in awe of what God is able to do when His people work together in unity, though sacrificial, they do it with joy. Our builders are not skilled, professional construction workers, but what we have is a group of fathers in the church(and some young people) who willfully and joyfully work together, brainstorming, sharing with each other what they know, for the glory of God.

It was through faith that we started this church building and it is through God's grace and abundant mercy that will finish what was started in faith.
