Today, October 7, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The origin of praying the rosary is associated with the Battle of Lepanto, fought on October 7, 1571, when Pope Pius V called for prayers for the Christian fleet and attributed the victory to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary; in the same year, he established a feast commemorating the victory under the title Our Lady of Victory, which later renamed to Our Lady of the Rosary, fixing the date of the feast on October 7.

SAINT OF THE DAY | SAINT FAUSTINA KOWALSKA, VIRGIN

Today, we remember Saint Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun and mystic known as the “Apostle of Divine Mercy.” In her Diary, she shared Christ’s message of trust in God’s mercy, inspiring the Divine Mercy devotion and the Feast of Divine Mercy. May her life remind us to trust, forgive, and share God’s mercy with all.

Saint Faustina Kowalska, patron of those who seek God's mercy, pray for us.
