Pentecost Sunday 2026 🔥
The Birthday of the Catholic Church

Today we celebrate the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Blessed Mother in the Upper Room.

"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind... and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:1-4

With tongues of fire and the sound of a mighty wind, fear was replaced with courage, silence with proclamation, and division with unity. The Apostles stepped out and spoke in every language, so that all nations could hear the Good News of Christ. In that moment, the Church was born sent out to make disciples of all peoples.

Pentecost reminds us that the Church is alive because the Holy Spirit is alive in her. The same Spirit who gave strength to the first Christians is with us today, guiding, renewing, and empowering us to live out our faith with boldness and love.

On this birthday of the Church, let us renew our openness to the Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Happy Pentecost! May we continue to be a Church that listens, serves, and proclaims Christ to the world.

SANTACRUZAN | MAY 21 - 29, 2026

Santacruzan (from the Spanish words 'santa' meaning 'holy', and 'cruz' meaning 'cross') is a colorful religious-historical procession held in various cities, towns and even small villages throughout the Philippines during the month of May. It recalls Queen Helena's search for the Holy Cross. The said queen, along with her Roman emperor son, Constantine the Great, embarked on a journey to the Holy Land in search of the wooden cross to which Jesus Christ was nailed. Although this search yielded three crosses, the authenticity of the true cross was proven through the miraculous healing of a woman on the brink of death. A celebration in Rome marked the end of Queen Helena's journey and search.

Please take note that Santacruzan is neither a beauty pageant nor a fashion show. Remember that it has religious roots, as discussed above. Moreover, it is not interchangeable with 'Flores de Mayo' ('Flowers of May' in Spanish), which is a month-long festivity held in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Vicarial Celebration of World Communications Sunday 2026

On May 17, 2026, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, we also celebrate World Communications Sunday. In anticipation of this event, the Vicariate of Sts. Peter and Paul will gather on the evening of Saturday, May 16, for a shared celebration centered on this year’s theme:

“Preserving Human Faces and Voices.”

We warmly invite all parishioners within the Vicariate to join us for this evening of fellowship, reflection, and mission in communication.
