“WHO IS CHRIST TO YOU?”
Main Text: (Matt. 16:15–16)
Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” (Matt. 16:15–16). This is not just a question of knowledge, but a question of life. Your answer will shape your identity and your actions. If Christ is truly who He says He is, then we must also become who we are called to be in Him.
C – CHRIST IS OUR CAPTAIN, AND WE ARE HIS FOLLOWERS
He leads us in the path of salvation (Heb. 2:10), and His sheep follow His voice (John 10:27). As His followers, we are called to deny ourselves and follow Him daily (Luke 9:23). Like a soldier who must follow his captain’s command in battle, our safety depends on obedience. Are you truly following Christ, or are you still leading your own life?
H – CHRIST IS THE HEAD, AND WE ARE HIS BODY
He is the head of the church (Col. 1:18), and we are members of His body (1 Cor. 12:27). As His body, we must submit to His authority and live according to His will (Eph. 5:24). Just as a body cannot function properly without listening to the head, our lives fail when we ignore Christ’s direction. Are you living under Christ’s authority, or your own?
R – CHRIST IS OUR REDEEMER, AND WE ARE THE REDEEMED
He bought us with His blood (Eph. 1:7), and we now belong to Him (Titus 2:14). As the redeemed, we must leave our old life of sin and live in righteousness (Rom. 6:22). Like a prisoner who has been set free, it makes no sense to go back to the prison. Are you living like someone who has been redeemed?
I – CHRIST IS OUR INTERCESSOR, AND WE ARE THOSE HE REPRESENTS
He intercedes for us before God (Rom. 8:34), giving us access to come near to Him (Heb. 10:22). As those He represents, we must draw near to God with faith and remain faithful (Heb. 4:16). Like someone who has a direct connection to help, it is foolish not to use it. Are you staying close to God, or drifting away?
S – CHRIST IS OUR SAVIOR, AND WE ARE THE SAVED
He saves us from sin (Matt. 1:21), and salvation is found only in Him (Acts 4:12). As the saved, we must respond in faith and obedience and remain faithful until the end (Rev. 2:10). Like someone rescued from drowning, we should not return to the waters that almost destroyed us. Are you living faithfully as someone who has been saved?
T – CHRIST IS OUR TEACHER, AND WE ARE HIS DISCIPLES
He teaches us the truth (Matt. 11:29), and we are called to learn from Him (Luke 6:40). As His disciples, we must not only hear His word but also obey it (James 1:22). Like a student who refuses to listen, there can be no growth without learning and obedience. Are you growing as a disciple, or just listening without change?
CONCLUSION
In the end, the question remains: who is Christ to you? But more than that, are you living like you truly belong to Him? As the Bible says, “As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Col. 2:6).
