𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | As part of the celebration of 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻, the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘇é 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 was held on August 21 at the 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗼 𝗥𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 as the first day begun.

With the support of the 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 (𝗦𝗞) 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, the youth of Libas gathered for an evening of solemnity, reflection, and prayer, coming together in faith and fellowship.

Adding meaning to the gathering, 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 shared an inspiring talk with the youth of Libas, encouraging them to nurture their faith, embrace their youthful spirit, and become instruments of hope in their community.

May this gathering continue to inspire the youth to walk together in faith, prayer, and service. 🙏✨

𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘

The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a liturgical feast celebrated annually on August 22. Pope Pius XII established this memorial in 1954 through his encyclical Ad Caeli Reginam to honor Mary's royal dignity as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. This celebration occurs exactly one week after the Solemnity of the Assumption, serves as the logical completion of Mary’s earthly journey, and highlights her coronation in heavenly glory.

Theological roots for this title stem from the ancient Israelite tradition of the Davidic Kingdom, where the king's mother held the influential title of Queen Mother, or Gebirah, acting as a powerful advocate for the people. Because Jesus sits on the eternal throne of David, Mary fulfills this maternal role of intercession. Scripture also points to this in the Book of Revelation, which describes a woman crowned with twelve stars. Unlike worldly rulers, Mary exercises her royal authority through humility, maternal care, and the distribution of her Son's graces.

In Catholic devotional life, the Queenship of Mary is meditated upon daily during the Fifth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary, which focuses on her coronation. Parishes and families also celebrate this royal status through traditional May Crowning ceremonies, where statues of Mary are adorned with crowns of fresh flowers. Through these practices, the Church honors her not as a distant monarch, but as a loving queen who constantly pleads for the needs of humanity.

(Pope)

Saint Pius X, born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto to a poor family in Riese, Italy, in 1835, rose through the Church ranks from a humble parish priest to become Pope Pius X from 1903 to 1914. Historically remembered as the "Pope of the Eucharist," he revolutionized Catholic devotional life by lowering the age for children to receive First Holy Communion to the age of reason and encouraging frequent, daily communion for all Catholics.

His papacy was defined by a staunch defense of traditional doctrine, most notably through his fierce opposition to theological modernism, which he condemned as the "synthesis of all heresies." Beyond his doctrinal battles, he initiated the monumental task of codifying the Church's Canon Law and revitalized liturgical music by promoting Gregorian chant. Deeply saddened by the outbreak of World War I, he died on August 20, 1914, and was later canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XII in 1954.

𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐎𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐮𝐱
(Abbot and Doctor of the Church)

St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090–1153) was a towering 12th-century French abbot, mystic, and reformer who fundamentally reshaped medieval Christianity. Born to a noble family in Burgundy, France, Bernard received a strong religious upbringing. Following the death of his mother, he decided to dedicate his life entirely to God. At the age of 22, he entered the strict monastery of Cîteaux, famously convincing his brothers, uncles, and friends to join him, which sparked a massive surge in new vocations.

In 1115, the abbot of Cîteaux sent Bernard and 12 other monks to start a new house in an isolated, wild area known as the Valley of Wormwood. Bernard renamed it Clairvaux, or the Valley of Light, and served as its first abbot. Under his intense spiritual guidance, Clairvaux became a powerhouse of monastic renewal. The abbey grew rapidly and eventually spawned hundreds of daughter monasteries across Europe, establishing the Cistercians as a major force in the medieval world.

His influence extended far beyond his monastery walls into the highest levels of European politics and Church governance. He helped heal a dangerous papal schism in 1130 by successfully backing Pope Innocent II, served as a trusted adviser to multiple popes, and helped draft the official rule of life for the Knights Templar. Known as the "honey-tongued doctor" for his eloquent preaching, he produced profound spiritual treatises on divine love and scripture before dying at Clairvaux on August 20, 1153.

The story of the Assumption is a beautiful testament to a mother's perfect love and her reward in heaven. According to sacred tradition, after years of faithfully serving the early Church, Mary reached the end of her earthly life, and the apostles gathered from across the world to be at her bedside. In her final moments, she did not experience the painful decay of mortality; instead, she closed her eyes in a peaceful, loving sleep, entirely surrendered to God just as she had been her whole life. Recognizing that the body which carried the Savior of the world was too sacred to touch the dust of the grave, God chose to honor her completely. With immense joy, Jesus descended to greet His mother, and holy angels tenderly lifted her—body and soul—up into the radiant light of heaven. When the apostles later opened her tomb to show the late-arriving Saint Thomas, they found no physical remains, only the burial linens surrounded by a breathtaking abundance of sweet-smelling lilies and roses. Today, Catholics look to her Assumption as a beautiful promise of hope, knowing that our Queen and Mother is already fully alive in heaven, waiting to welcome her children home.

𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗫𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗞𝗢𝗟𝗕𝗘
(Martyr of Charity and Franciscan Friar)

Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe was born as Raymund Kolbe on January 8, 1894, in Zduńska Wola, Poland. At a young age, he entered the Franciscan seminary and later became a Conventual Franciscan friar and priest. He had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and dedicated his life to bringing people closer to Christ.

In 1917, while studying in Rome, he founded the Militia of the Immaculata, a movement devoted to Mary and the spread of the Gospel. Upon returning to Poland, he established Niepokalanów, known as the “City of the Immaculate,” where he used preaching and publications to share the Catholic faith.

During World War II, Saint Maximilian continued to serve others despite persecution. In 1941, he was imprisoned at Auschwitz. When prisoners were selected for death as a punishment, he voluntarily offered to take the place of another prisoner, Franciszek Gajowniczek, who had a family. His courageous sacrifice became a lasting example of Christ-like love and charity.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe died on August 14, 1941. He was beatified in 1971 and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1982, who declared him a “Martyr of Charity.” His life reminds us that true love calls us to courageously give of ourselves for the good of others.

(Virgin)

Saint Clare of Assisi (1194–1253) was a wealthy Italian noblewoman who abandoned her privileged life to follow Saint Francis of Assisi, ultimately founding the Order of Poor Clares. On Palm Sunday in 1212, she secretly fled her family home to exchange her rich gowns for a rough woolen habit and a life of absolute poverty. As the abbess of San Damiano, Clare fiercely protected her community's right to own no property, relying completely on daily charity and intense prayer. She is famously remembered for defending her convent from invading soldiers by holding up the Blessed Sacrament, which caused the attackers to flee, and she was later named the patron saint of television due to a vision of a distant Mass she received while bedridden.
