โ€œGod has spoken, and His servant must obey; the happiest place on earth for him was the place where God would have him to be.โ€

This Sabbath, may Abrahamโ€™s story remind us that faith is not merely believing Godโ€”it is trusting Him enough to obey, even when we cannot see the whole journey ahead.

God called Abraham to leave what was familiar and step into the unknown. He did not give him every detail, but He gave him a promise.

And Abraham went.

Sometimes Godโ€™s call may lead us away from comfort, certainty, and what we have always known. Yet the safest and happiest place is not necessarily where life is easiestโ€”it is where God wants us to be.

May we have the faith of Abraham:
to hear Godโ€™s voice, trust His promise, and obey His call.

This Sabbath, let us rest in His promises, listen for His voice, and renew our commitment to walk wherever He leads.

Because when God has spoken, His servant must obey. ๐Ÿค

He was not an apostle like Paul.

He was not one of the twelve disciples.

He was not a famous preacher whose sermons were recorded for generations.

Scripture does not tell us much about his background.

But what it does tell us reveals something powerful about the kind of person God values.

Epaphroditus was a believer from Philippi who was sent to Paul while Paul was imprisoned.

He carried a gift from the church.
He served Paul.
He worked alongside him.
And Paul called him a brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier.

But somewhere along the way, Epaphroditus became seriously ill.
So seriously ill that Paul says he was near death.
Imagine that.

He had left home to serve Christ and help Paul, and instead of an easy journey, he found himself fighting for his life.

Yet what makes Epaphroditus remarkable is not simply that he became sick.
It is what concerned him while he was sick.

Paul writes that Epaphroditus was distressed because the church had heard that he was ill.

That is the heart of a servant.

Paul eventually sent him back to Philippi so that the church could rejoice at seeing him again.

And then Paul gave the church an instruction:

Why?

Because Epaphroditus was willing to risk his life for the work of Christ.

You may never stand behind a pulpit.
You may never lead a large ministry.
You may never have thousands of people know your name.

But you can serve faithfully.
You can carry someone else's burden.
You can show up when it is inconvenient.
You can give when nobody applauds.

You can remain faithful when the work becomes difficult.

And you can love people enough to put their needs before your own.

Epaphroditus teaches us that faithfulness is not always dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like simply doing what God has placed in front of you.
Sometimes it looks like serving while tired.
Sometimes it looks like sacrificing without recognition.
Sometimes it looks like putting others first.
And sometimes, the greatest testimony of your faith is not what you say, but what you are willing to give for Christ.

God bless

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6.

In all our ways we should acknowledge God, and He will direct our paths. We should consult His Word with humble hearts, ask His counsel, and give up our will to His. We can do nothing without God.

There is the highest reason for us to prize the true Sabbath and stand in its defense, for it is the sign which distinguishes the people of God from the world. The commandment that the world makes void is the one to which, for this very reason, Godโ€™s people will give greater honor. It is when the unbelieving cast contempt upon the Word of God that the faithful Calebs are called for. It is then that they will stand firm at the post of duty, without parade, and without swerving because of reproach. The unbelieving spies stood ready to destroy Caleb. He saw the stones in the hands of those who had brought a false report, but this did not deter him; he had a message, and he would bear it. The same spirit will be manifested today by those who are true to God.

The psalmist says, โ€œThey have made void thy law. Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine goldโ€ (Psalm 119:126, 127). When men press close to the side of Jesus, when Christ is abiding in their hearts by faith, their love for the commandments of God grows stronger in proportion to the contempt which the world heaps upon His holy precepts. It is at this time that the true Sabbath must be brought before the people by both pen and voice. As the fourth commandment and those who observe it are ignored and despised, the faithful feel that it is the time not to hide their faith but to exalt the law of Jehovah by unfurling the banner on which is inscribed the message of the third angel, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Let not those who have the truth as it is in Jesus give sanction, even by their silence, to the work of the mystery of iniquity. Let them never cease to sound the note of alarm.... The truth must not be hid, it must not be denied or disguised, but fully avowed, and boldly proclaimed.
